Simply...the best Fest in Vermont. I think of it as the States Film fest. While some may say there are too many festivals, in fact there too many mediocre events and too few honest, ernest ones such as this.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

personal and professional ways.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

That it remains humble but world class

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

not attempting to tell me what is best for me.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Become a focal point for the states film industry.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

I have been going to the Green Mountain Film Festival for about six years. They make the entire Montpelier community come to life with people from all over Vermont and beyond enjoying cinema at its best. I have been moved, delighted, surprised, shocked and overwhelmed with some of the offerings there. I particularly enjoy the workshops and special lectures and talks they plan each year with industry insiders and professionals. Restaurants are full, stores are buzzing and the sidewalks full of people talking cinema and culture and life. It has become the spring renewal I look forward to every year.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

attending the variety and depth of workshops and film exhibits. I especially like listening to industry experts stories, opinions and experiences in the film business.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Begin to ask for a minimum fee from filmmakers to have their film screened for consideration. Join WithoutABox and filmmakers will send their films in, along with their application fee, in droves. This will provide much needed income to the festival.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the generosity of ideas and talent. They are willing to work with filmmakers and members of the Monteplier community to make the weeklong festival the best from all angles.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

extraordinarily helpful and generous.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Buy the kind of exhibition equipment it needs. PRovide scholarships to filmmmakers in Vermont, give film awards to filmmakers at the festival, have a film banquet and awards event to highlight new and emerging film talent.

Ways to make it better...

An awards presentation would spice up the week.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial. But if they start to charge a fee for film submissions and enlist a group of folks to screen films, this problem could be solved...or lessened.

One thing I'd also say is that...

this is a terrific event for Vermont and to the community of Montpelier. As a filmmaker I feel like this festival is "mine" and for "me". It is a treasure.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About once a year
