I was on the board for several years from the beginning. We used to hear the horrid stories of child abuse in our community and worked hard to get the facility up and running. I was impressed that the people who worked at the facility were not just jobholders but people on a mission to provide for and protect the children. Over the course of the years many other facilities of this type in Florida have experienced problems and sometimes scandals. Not so The Florida Keys Children's Shelter. It was started out of love and concern for the children and continues to operate with love and concern for the children.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

People that enjoyed what they were doing and made it easier on the children.

I was a member of the Board of Directories who helped build this much needed shelter. Before the shelter was in operation, our children had to be sent to the mainland Florida. This was tramatic for both the children and their loved ones. They go a great job, making a loving home for children in need.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Interaction with the children who have been served there.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Smiling faces on the children

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated staff and volunteers

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand the opeation to help more children in need.

HAVING BEEN INVOLVED WITH THE ORGANIZATION AS A BOARD MEMBER FOR 4 YEARS, I HAVE SEEN THE DEDICATION OF MANAGEMENT AND STAFF TO PROVIDE A SAFE, HEALTHY AND FUN PLACE FOR THE CHILDREN.THE RESOURCEFULNESS OF THE MANAGEMENT TEAM, ESPECIALLY IN THESE DIFFICULT ECONOMIC TIMES, IS VERY IMPRESSIVE. THEY ARE ALWAYS POSITIVE IN THEIR PROBLEM SOLVING AND DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE CHILDREN. I AM HONORED TO BE INVOLVED WITH THIS ORGANIZATION.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

SPEND MORE TIME AND RESOURCES IN PROVIDING MORE SERVICES FOR THE CHILDREN THROUGHOUT ALL OF MONROE COUNTY; NOT JUST THOSE WHO ARE PLACED WITH THEM.
