The Florida Keys Chilren Shelter is an important part of our community. Dedicated to our youth. Were would these kids go with out such a community service. They deserve credit for thier hard work and funding to help keep these kids off of the streets. I personally have brought a child there when there was no were else to go. A must in our community.

The President/CEO of FKCS has provided inspired and highly informed leadership to the youth work services field at the local, state, regional and national levels. Not only does FKCS provide an essential anchor for services to vulnerable youth and families, but staff also contribute to the development and effectiveness of the youth services field at large.

I volunteered for a fundraiser and helped at a Christmas party that the children attended. The Services this organization provides for the children in our community is unavailable anywhere else in ths county. The staff I dealt with were enthusiastic and dedicated to their cause. The many hours they put in was all in hopes that the fundraiser would bring in much needed finances. Unfortunately their expectations were not realized in this particular fundraiser.

so dedicated, they spent much of their spare time traveling and attending community events to promote this children's shelter and learning more about the county and state agencies in order to be on top of any support they may qualify for.

I was on the board for several years from the beginning. We used to hear the horrid stories of child abuse in our community and worked hard to get the facility up and running. I was impressed that the people who worked at the facility were not just jobholders but people on a mission to provide for and protect the children. Over the course of the years many other facilities of this type in Florida have experienced problems and sometimes scandals. Not so The Florida Keys Children's Shelter. It was started out of love and concern for the children and continues to operate with love and concern for the children.

I was a Guardian Ad Litem volunteer who visited clients at the Shelter on a regular basis. The staff, from the kitchen to the counselors, offered full assistance to my efforts. The children knew they were surrounded by people who care.

I was a member of the Board of Directories who helped build this much needed shelter. Before the shelter was in operation, our children had to be sent to the mainland Florida. This was tramatic for both the children and their loved ones. They go a great job, making a loving home for children in need.

I have had the pleasure of working with the Florida Keys Children's Shelter through the eyes of State Government. While the environment, in terms of funding, isn't always the greatest, staff is always quick to offer suggestions for alternatives and is good on alerting the office of issues. We are blessed to have the Florida Keys Children's Shelter in our community to serve those constituent's are are most vulnerable, our children.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The scope and range of children the Shelter serves is incredible, from newborns to kids in their late teens! In the Florida Keys we have limited social services so non-profits pick up the slack, and the Shelter picks up a huge protion of that slack.

Staff is always gracious for the assitance we offer even though the outcome might not be the best. Occasionally there is a panic moment when it comes to state funding, but usually the situation resolves itself in favor of the children.
