I was pretty heart broken that I couldn't tolerate living with my screaming Sun Conure. He was a great little bird, very loving and well behaved. But his screaming became unbearable and we had to find him a new home. I was so unsure about handing him off to a stranger, but once we visited FEBS and saw the other Sun Conures flying in their cage I knew he deserved the chance to just be a bird. Patricia was great and she rassured us he would be ok. I was so amazed at the attention given to the birds and was surprised to see every available space in her kitchen taken up by fresh produce, fruit, and nuts. Patricia and her volunteers are dedicated to giving these birds the best life possible. Although we will never own another bird, we will always be a supporter of FEBS and all they do for exotic birds. We hope to see them meet all their financial goals this year. They deserve it!!!

Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary (FEBS) is a very-very special place filling a most urgent need. People from all over Florida and indeed the country believe, usually for a short while, that they want an exotic bird in their lives, but soon, they realize that these amazing bird were never meant to be stuck in a cage (no matter how big) and once the bird becomes lonely or depressed and acts our and/or just acts like a bird does, they become expendable. These amazing creatures that can live as long or longer than most of us. They didn't choose this life and for most parrots, it only gets worst for them as the years go by. That is why FEBS is so special and critically needed. At FEBS, the staff has a true passion for these poor animals, many of them neglected or abused. Outside of living in the wild like they were meant to but cannot now because they are dependent on humans for survival, the Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary is the next best thing for the helpless creatures. I implore anyone who reads this to visit the sanctuary, and the next time you see a bird flying wild, think of these precious animals and instead of getting your usual Starbucks that week, send a donation to FEBS - and let us all thank them for the incredible, much-needed safe harbor they offer the birds in their good care.

Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary is a fantastic place for the birds and is run by a caring, dedicated staff. It is great to see the birds interacting and playing in conditions that are not possible in most homes. It is fun to visit, they are amazingly intelligent.

I never knew how intelligent these birds are, I had only seen them in cages where they maybe knew a few words. In the flight aviary however they were amazing, they all have their own personality and it was obvious how attached they are to the caretakers. It was an eye-opening experience and well worth the trip. The birds love mixed nuts and it is easy to send them a bag right from the FEBS web site.

Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary continues to do great work in helping abandoned or neglected parrots. Recently through the help of a supporter they were able to rescue a parrot that was poorly treated and had plucking issues. This bird is now happy and growing new feathers. This is just one of many success stories for this organization. Check out their website, subscribe to their blog and learn about all they do. Then contribute what you can so they can expand their work. We do!

My husband and I were recently excited to find a quality sanctuary for exotic birds (parrots) close to our home. We had been looking for a place to place our parrots when our health no longer allows us to properly care for them. Many pet parrots live for 60-80 years and are shuffled from person to person as their owners become debilitated or pass on. FEBS gives these birds a forever home where they can be birds. They are housed in outdoor cages and flights where they can fly, call each other and interact with their own species. The grounds and cages are immaculate and the director, Patricia Norton, is extrememly knowledgable. FEBS has an impressive Board of Directors and a good volunteer and donor network. They are currently looking to buy a larger property and expand because there are many more birds that need homes than they can accomodate.

We had a cockatoo foor over 12 years. Due to a personal situation within our family, we moved out of our home to allow one of our children to move in. Our bird, Kyoshi, could not move with us. We found FEBS and felt such relief that Kyoshi would have a great home for life. My wife and I volunteer weekly plus I am on the Board of Directors. Thank you FEBS, Bob

After living with our African Grey for 23 years, my husband came to the conclusion that our parrot deserved to live the rest of her life in the most natural and safe environment we could provide. After extensive research, Inez has been at the Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary for the past 3 years and is positively thriving! Thank you, Pat, your staff and volunteers for the amazing work you do.

We found Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary via the internet. We were the proud owners of Paco, a beautiful Double Yellow Head Amazon. We picked him out when he looked like an embryo! We loved, spoiled and lived him for about 17 years. We started looking for a home for him when he constantly ran us out of the house with his constant screaming. If I wasn't holding him, he was screaming.

We wanted to be sure he had a good home and would not be abused or passed around from one home to another. We made a visit to Pat's place after finding it on the internet. My husband and I knew this would be a good home for Paco and he would actually be able to be a bird for a change! Relatively free to fly and interact with others of his species.

We both cried leaving him and every time we go for a visit, I cry but I know he is in an awesome place where he will be taken care of and can live out his days comfortably.

We are so grateful to Pat & all her volunteers for the great work they do with these birds.

I "rescued" my parrot from a pet store when she was less than six months old I did my best to provide the best care possible for my bird Unfortunately not being able to be home most of the time led to an unhappy bird It was a hard decision to place her but it has turned out to be the best possible solution the place and the people are fantastic

This organization is amazing and provides an amazing home for birds. It is very well run and we are very lucky to have them. I would again like to thank the FEBS for everything they do. Forever Grateful
