Issues: Animals

Location: 7680 Clybourn Avenue Los Angeles CA 91352 USA

Mission: FixNation’s mission is to reduce the population of homeless cats by sterilizing as many as possible. At the same time, by consistently showing the effectiveness of Trap-Neuter-Return, we seek changes in public policy so that TNR becomes the officially sanctioned and government-funded approach to homeless cat management.
Results: FixNation has fixed nearly 75,000 cats since its inception in 2007! In this same time, the euthanasia rates for cats in the LA City and County shelters has dropped by 40%. FixNation's work is making a direct impact on the lives of cats! FixNation staff have trained thousands of community members in humane and best practices for Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) programs. To support TNR, FixNation also loans traps free of charge to the public.
Target demographics: Stray and feral, homeless cats; Colony Caregivers
Direct beneficiaries per year: 20,000+ homeless cats and their caregivers.
Geographic areas served: Los Angeles and Surrounding Areas
Programs: To achieve this mission, FixNation operates the nation's first full-time clinic dedicated to high-volume spay-neuter of homeless cats. FixNation devotes its resources (83% of every dollar raised) directly toward decreasing the number of unowned homeless cats though free and low-cost sterilization services at our clinic, and TNR training and support.

I came across a story about TNR by mere chance one day and it was exactly what I was looking for. There were too many cats and often sickly kittens around my neighborhood and the park across the street didn't help. FixNation had me come in one morning to teach me how to use the traps, care for the cats, and how the whole thing worked, they answered all and any questions. The process is really simple and worth it. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch all the cats and school started so they actually set me up with a great person that helps me catch the cats and she takes them in for me. They are really dedicated to helping and are very nice. I seriously recommend them. I live pretty far from their offices as I am closer to Downtown LA but the drive really was worth it and I've noticed that the cats are more relaxed and there aren't kittens suffering anymore. SPREAD THE WORD!

We had been referred to FixNation a few years ago by another 'cat person'...attempting to rescue feral cats and fix them is tough work...Fixnation made the TNR a painless and a wonderful experience. Thank you all at Fixnations for the incredible work you do...Hopefully, one day, there will be no homeless cats. But until that time comes, we are forever grateful to the kind and caring staff at FixNation.

I learned about Fixnation about three years ago when I was able to trap and release a feral mom cat that had four kittens. I adopted two of them and the other two found forever homes. Over the three years I have TNR'd several ferals and found homes for their kittens. The folks at Fixnation are wonderful caring folks. I want to give a special shout out to "Joe" who is a tireless volunteer who transports ferals and cats to Fixnation and back for those that can't other wise get there. There are so many great organizations but none more deserving than Fixnation and the good work they do for ALL pets. God Bless You.

I can't thank FIXNATION enough!!! Together with a neighborhood team, we have been managing a feral colony in our hood! Fixnation does an amazing job to help our communities. They spay, neuter, microchip, test for FIP & FELV, deworm, and even more recently they have extended their outreach to provide a clinic on Saturday mornings for cats and dogs. It is always very organized, the staff is knowledgable, courteous and sensitive to the prescient beings being left in their care. I don't know how they do it, but they spay/neuter at least 100 cats a day. Karn started an amazing organization! I am so grateful & reinvigorated that such altruistic people exist. It reaffirms my place in the world. Thank you FIXNATION!!! I look around my HOOD and know what amazing work you do! =^..^= Rocky

FixNation has been an amazing help at keeping the feral cat population in my neighborhood in control! I had no idea what to do when I found a feral cat and five kittens in my basement this summer, and FixNation came to the rescue. I am very proud to partner with them in their TNR mission!

FixNation has helped me fix many kitties who have appeared in my back yard over the years. The staff is kind and helpful. When I was moving from my house to an apartment, they allowed me to post a flyer asking for help for my three sweet ferals who I was taking care of in my back yard (in addition to the five indoor kitties I had adopted). Through FixNation, I met a wonderful colony manager who saved the ferals by helping relocate them to a safe place with another colony manager. I have renewed faith that there are people out there like me who truly love animals and want to help be part of the solution. We all imagine a world where there are no homeless or abandoned animals, and FixNation is helping make that happen. I can only hope that the concept catches on and spreads throughout the U.S. and beyond. Thanks for all that you do! I am grateful to you!

Fixnation is a great program! They helps me when I had 2 feral kittens that made my size yard their home. The kittens were fixed and given amazing care and are now back to my side yard and I don't have to worry about them reproducing. It is an amazingly efficient organization that is doing great work!

My purpose for leaving this review is to let people know about this wonderful cat resource in our city! I found this organization at at time when I really needed help. Two amazing kittens were abandoned and left in my care. At the time I didn't have the resources to care for more animals because my dogs & cats had serious health issues. Not only was it nice to have an organization get back to me, but the information that I received was detailed and delivered so promptly by Ms. Ivy Ramirez. Although the kittens were a project that came at a difficult time, I learned so much from these furry little ones and I now have passed on Fixnation information to everyone I know telling them to make sure to keep this organization in mind as a wonderful resource for the cats in our community!

Fixnation is a WONDERFUL organization but I have personally made a decision to no longer support their efforts because of Ms. Ivy Ramirez. She is patronizing and sarcastic and I'm not going to tolerate her behavior any more.
Fixnation should re-evaluate Ms. Ramirez's role in their organization, perhaps she would better serve them if she had less contact with the public.
