I have been involved with the Feria for 7 years. I thought it was an exceptional show when I first attended and it has only grown more wonderful. It is a WIN, WIN situation for everyone. The artists who participate are given their lodging and a chance to see and learn about a part of Mexico they would otherwise never have known. The buyers who attend have a chance to meet and buy from artists at their prices which might have been very difficult to do otherwise. I will continue to attend because it is a hi lite of my year.

My husband and I have been participating in this wonderful endeavor for the past three years. The show has been a valuable life line to the Mexican artists in this difficult time. It has further opened our eyes to the wonderful art that is available in Mexico and to the fabulous people there. We have combined this with other travel in Mexico and have come to know many of the artists and their families through this experience. We look forward to many years of participation.

Maestros del Arte is an important folk art exposition. The top folk artists of Mexico are brought from the entire country of Mexico (approximately 70 in 2009) at NO COST to the artists. The artists are housed free of charge in local homes. Their transportation is provided free of charge. There is no charge for a booth, and they pay no percentage of their profits. This organization is extremely important in preserving the top Mexican folk arts. Many of the artistic families are losing their arts, because they cannot sustain a living for their families with their art, many becoming farm workers in the USA. In the Maestros del Arte most artists make more in 3 days than they usually make in 1 year, thus giving them the opportunity to continue in their art. Mexico is one of the richest countries in the world in the historic folk arts, but it is quickly losing it's heritage due to the increasing inability of artists who are able to make a living. The Maestros del Arte is doing an important job in helping make it possible to preserve these valuable and ancient arts.
