My husband and I moved from Arizona to NY to look for work here as we couldn't find any work in AZ. Unfortunately things didn't go much better here but we came to be closer to family for support. Because of the economy being what it is, family are doing what they can but can only help that much. The Feed Our Veterans Charity has been such a blessing. Under the circumstances their help has definitely taken some stress off our shoulders providing us with food, toiletries and moral support. Wonderful people with a great attitude.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

when finances allow it move to a bigger warehouse where you can have different sections for different needs ie: clothing section; fresh produce; non perishables etc. and also have pantries set up nationwide.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the friendly atmosphere and to see it expand so quickly. More people every time we go - there's definitely an urgent need! Food is an essential after all...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

absolutely wonderful with an obvious passion for what they're doing.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

go international and help veterans worldwide.

Ways to make it better...

fresh produce were sponsored by local farmers to the organization.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I'm very thankful to both Rich, his wife Michelle and staff for all the assistance.

I've served in three branches of the armed services over 25 years & have had interaction with many government and non-government affiliated departments/agencies across the country & around the globe. Only recently did I encounter circumstances that caused me to swallow my pride & ask for help; which is NEVER easy for a man, especially a soldier, to do. My experience with more than thirty charitable organizations and about a dozen churches, as well as a few political reps, was a complete waste of resources with very few exceptions: The FOV was the only one that gave my wife & I what we needed the very same day that we contacted them; actually they were only the second agency to help and their help is ongoing which makes our lives easier & my stress much less than it was. We soldiers do what we do for many reasons but the end result is the same: we SERVE so others don't have to which keeps the country free & the citizens safe. We never think of taking &, unfortunately, not many think of giving because they assume our own government will care for us...which just isn't true. Independent charitable organizations like the FOV are too few & far between & not as well funded/supported and/or publicized as they should be. We need more & we are grateful for those who see the need and give generously.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

...Utica, NY after having to move in with family when I came back from deployment & was unable to find work.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

...expand it's scope to cover all basic necessities that Veterans are not receiving from other 'charitable organization' and/or the governmental agencies, and push hard for nationalization to reach a maximum number of those in need.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

...the positive attitude of all involved & the generosity of the food pantry which meant I did not need to find supplemental sources of necessary food staples.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

...friendly, considerate, generous & compassionate.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

...become national by starting branches in all the major cities, based upon contemporary demographics, across the US.

Ways to make it better...

...there were more sponsors involved that could offer a wider variety of necessities; such as warm clothes for winter, over the counter meds for the ill, fresh produce from local farmers etc.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

...a severe lack of public attention & private charitable contributions.

One thing I'd also say is that...

...this could not just boost Veterans morale but could also save many lives by supporting our disillusioned, depressed, despondent soldiers that aren't just hungry but frustrated & lonely.

Our son came home from overseas duty, has not been able to find a job. The Feed The Vets Utica-Rome NY is a lifesaver for providing him and his wife with food each month. Thank you to Rich Synek for founding this much need organization to help our veterans. I'm sure the older generations are thankful for the help also on limited budgets. Please donate to this worthy cause.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

food donations to our son and daughter in law coming from overseas tour to hometown where he is looking for a job and place to live. Thank you for this organization and all the workers involved.

This organization is spectacular! The directors and volunteers are very friendly and went above and beyond to help some needy veterans. They helped families of mobilized reservists with needed food providing a relief for some who also recently lost a job or had a drop in income and assistance. This is a much-needed program in the depressed economy of Central NY.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing junior military members, some single parents who qualify for food stamps, get needed help by receiving grocery items.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

No red tape. The directors make it easy to utilize.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very friendly and went waaaaaay out of their way to help!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide a ton of food for needy vets and take the strain off other local charitable organizations and public programs that provide assistance.

This organization is a real lifesaver for veterans. Not only do they help us, they truly care about us. I was diagnosed with cancer and was about to loose my home. I had seen an article in a magazine about this organization and figured I'd see what they could do to help. They have remained in contact with me several times a month to be sure we are doing ok and if they can do anything else to help. Not only did they provide me with Walmart gift cards, they called other people and agencies who would be able to help me. Rich contacted my congress people to get involved as well. I had several calls from people to aid and assist us after they became involved.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

more ways than anyone can imagine. They provided mental and emotional support in addition to the gift cards they provide.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get a lot more people to support it and participate in its efforts.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I feel like I gained friends as well as support.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make a major difference in the lives of veterans in need of assistance. They would be able to supply lots more support.

Ways to make it better...

I had been able to thank them in person, but I do not live near their home location.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

they are not yet large enough to be real well known.

One thing I'd also say is that...

this is the best veterans organization I have come across.
