One of the greatest pleasures of my life has been the almost 50 years the Bleier family has been associated with F.E.G.S. Health and Human Services systems. While continuing to be a major factor in assisting New Yorks find employment and employment counseling and guidance, including supported employment, it has become a major factor in assisting those with developmental disabilities and mental illness. FEGS has done so with care and compassion. It has enriched the life of seniors with a program to support senior art and has be a partner with the New York City School system helping to prevent student dropouts and sponsoring 3 high schools, significantly improving graduation rates. FEGS helps over 100,000 New Yorkers each year and is the gold standard of care in each of the areas in which it operates. It is a true treasure to the people of New York.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I watched the blossoming of clients with developmental disabilities as a result of the IRPT program. I witnessed an almost unbelievable transformation of a number of our clients as a result of specialized software in the hands of superb case managers.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would find ways to better recognized our staff for the work they do.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Working with superbly qualified and capable staff and board members who are truely dedicated to the mission of the agency.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Staff and other members of the board are among the brightest and most capable group of dedicated humanbeings it has been my pleasure to work with.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

This is an agency with a $274 Million operating budget. We need to increase the capital under pinning of the agency by improving our endowment.

Ways to make it better...

If we had been able to expose more people to this program.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The pressure on government to maintain funding of the programs whyich support our clients.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The agency is financially very well managed.

I have been a Board member for over 25 years as was my father who served as President in the 70s. I am always amazed at the services our outstanding staff provides to an ever increasing number of consumers. The management continues to find new ways to help people in need.

I am proud to be a FEGS Board member. I joined FEGS in gratitude for its outstanding professional and humane support of our family and our daughter with developmental disabilities. FEGS, through its diverse programming, has proven its commitment and its ability to help each individual reach his or her highest potential. Whether in supportive housing, health and mental health services, employment guidance, or educational programming, FEGS addresses all the challenges facing those most vulnerable. Thank you FEGS staff and volunteers for all that you do so well.

I am a board memeber of Fegs. That being said- Fegs has given me much more than I can ever give back. Fegs has been an enormous help in several situations in my life. They helped when a friend with a drug and substance abuse problem had nowhere else to turn on a professional level. They also helped my mother gain back her sense of who she is after my father passed away after 55 years of marriage- by getting involved in a Fegs related program. I am so proud of our organization!!

The Great!

As a member of the Board of Directors of F.E.G.S. for the past 8 years, I have had the distinct privilege to become more familiar with the amazing ways that this unique organization touches, often changes, always improves the lives of the people it serves, including its staff and its volunteers. I have visited some of its clean, well-run and compassionately staffed residences for the developmentally disabled; attended a newly created high school's first graduation of students, many of whom were formally underachievers and, as a class, became over 95% college bound; programs for the recently unemployed that give them the tools, skills and placement opportunities for new jobs; the immigrants at the Russian Center, new to our country, who are taught English, and given the opportunity to work and the education to become American citizens. After 8 years, I still feel the wonder, the awe and excitement about the many ways F.E.G.S. responds to and often anticipates the social and health needs of the communities and individuals it serves, always with utmost professionalism and caring.
