Big Bird (Ron), Tammy, Larry and Bob have been very interesting, informative and helpful in our transition to the local area from out of state. We have 8 parrots and didn't know what to do until we can get our own place. Thank goodness they swooped down from the sky to help us out since June 2012 (and still ongoing). I couldn't get to fully appreciate this bird sanctuary on only 1 visit so I recommend anyone to get an annual membership to visit often and make friends with more and more of the the personalities and beauties here. You'll hear some common phrases " Hi Casper", "Whatta ya doing", "bye" etc and view some great acrobatic moves from some of the showoffs.

I've been interested in parrots for as long as I can remember and this year, I found Feathered Friends Forever through a web search for local parrot rescues. I've visited this rescue several times and can honestly say that the people are friendly and very helpful and each of their numerous birds are cared for. These are people who actually do care about these birds and want to see them in good and loving homes. Feathered Friends Forever is a non-profit organization that operates solely on donations. The money that they get quite literally goes to the birds to help feed them, shelter them and take care of their needs. About a month and a half ago, I adopted an Umbrella cockatoo from them and he seems to be doing fine. The dogs have taught him to bark. So now whenever he hears them bark, he barks too and it sounds as though we adopted a Chihuahua rather than a cockatoo. I really enjoyed visiting this rescue and look forward to visiting again in the near future. And maybe the cockatoo can come with me for a visit as well.

I'm challenging everybody to help put in a new water well for the expansion and the new habitats! I'll match up to $5000 in donations. You can send a check or donate on the website www.featheredfriendsforever.org and mark it "MATCH". Local TV covered the way birds are cooled during the high temps: http://www2.wjbf.com/news/2012/jul/03/cooling-rescued-parrots-ar-4078829/ and that's why they need the new well. Every dollar goes into the Rescue, all volunteers and Board members are unpaid volunteers, plus we're Veterans. Thank you for your help!!

Toured the facilty yesterday. The birds are obviously loved. So many volunteers feeding, petting, talking to the birds. The staff, all non paid volunteers, know each bird by name. The birds know them. I cannot wait to go back. Seriously, if you know of any place that can donate food, supplies, money feathered friends is always in need. This is an awesome place. Although, some are feather pluckers and are nearly featherless they now have an awesome, loving place to live. If you want to adopt just go to the website and follow directions. If you can donate, even a small monthly $5 donation, please do. You have to visit if you can. These precious feathered sweeties are happy...they are loved...truly beautiful to know they have such a wonderful home.

I've been involved in fund raisers the past 8 years at FeatheredFriendsForever. Each trip I've make, I'm always seeing improvements to what they do. As new technology becomes available, I'm seen FFF make use of it. My wife and I have adopted 3 birds from FFF over the years. 2 small one and a cockatoo Tasha, She was a victim of domestic violence. Over the years she has learned to trust humans and thinks of herself as a human. She has become an important part of our family. We take her back from time to time to visit and for our friends at FFF to see how far she has come Keep up the good work!!

I was at a place where I was unable to care for my birds anymore, and I took them to Feathered Friends Forever in April of this year. They made a difficult time for me as pleasant as possible, and I know my birds are being well cared for. Ron is a great guy, and will love my birds as much as I did.

I had a very unhappy bird name max to the point he was untolerable. Ron took Max in and help me find a big problem. while Max was at Feather Friends he was taken care of very well. After 4 months Max return home with me. We still have behavior issues but know how to better deal with them than before because of Ron at Feather Freinds Rescue. They have built an awesome place for the Parrots & Birds that have been give up for one reason or another. They are a true haven . They also educate the pubic and have events promoting education and awareness for the feathered friends. It is worth a visit to see all the updates and improvement and give treats to the Birds,Birds can be adopted or even sponsored .

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Helping and visiting the birds.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated people day in and day out.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

improve the quality of life for some many other birds taken in and rescued and educate the public.

I donated a parrot garden banner (flag) and will be sending another one shortly. I live out of State so I am unable to do anything in person, therefore I will donate what I can, when I can, to help out with FFF. I have read and heard much about this organization and wish I could volunteer in person, they are wonderful. I wish more folks would get involved and help these wonderful beautiful animals. I will be sending funds soon as well.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being able to be involved in something as wonderful as FFF in whatever way possible since living out of State.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

take wonderful care of the birds they house and care for, and not have to worry about having enough food or housing for them anymore.

I visited this Refuge just before Thanksgiving and was very impressed. I admire the dedication and love these people give these birds, wheather handicapped or perfect. I met 2 of the volunteers as well and Ron and Tammy. All at the Refuge are great people. Let's try to help them in every way that we can -- but mostly financially. Great people, and great birds.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the care and love they show all birds. There are many with handicaps that they care for, and cater to. Helps show our love for the birds and someone did not want, but thought they had to have.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

change nothing. FFF is on the right track and trying to look to the future. They are in need of money to make this a reality. They are very much needed as long as people buy birds as disposal items. Thank God there is a caring place for birds!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Ron is always eager to give me advice on what to do for my own birds.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

caring, and eager to talk about the birds, their needs, and information about the birds they care for.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

hire help to care for all the birds that poeple thought they needed, then found that they were too much trouble, too loud, or just not "talking" like they expected. The staff they have just don't have enought time in a day to love and interact with all.

Ways to make it better...

more people would support this refuge so these people could upgrade and built better housing for the birds. They do great with what they have, but more is needed.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

MONEY!! Like all good Refuges, they are short on money, and must rely on volunteers and donations.

One thing I'd also say is that...

These people are dedicated to the birds. I saw this on my visit, and I hope more people will see the need to help them and the birds.
