Family Service Association was founded in 1898 and has continuously provided services to low-income and homeless families for over 100 years. Our mission was, and still is: "To alleviate poverty, encourage self-sufficiency and promote the dignity of all people." This tradition continues today with programs that provide emergency support, case management, education and referral that focus on helping families become more self-sufficient.
Family Service Association currently operates two primary programs. Family Support is provided to low-income families needing assistance through a financial crisis that threatens their ability to maintain employment and prevent homelessness. The Home Again Program helps homeless families stabilize toward permanent housing and employment. A case management system helps staff work with families over time toward greater self-sufficiency. The agency also distributes surplus food and extensive holiday support programming.

My family and I are in need of shelter. We are a hardworking family of 4. We begged for help and pleaded for assistance in finding any homeless shelter so we could rebuild our lives. We were not just denied service in the most apathetic way, They even went out of their way in contacting other agencies and accused us of being homeless by choice and refusing the help they never offered. It's been 4 days now. We are doing our best and we will overcome this hardship. Honestly My family and I are in extreme crisis and would have cherished the opportunity to become stable.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
