I have been a volunteer counselor for Faith Aloud for several years. I speak to women who need to be reassured that God is still with them, even as they wrestle with making a decision about abortion, or as they continue to process that decision. Most of the women I have spoken to end our conversation by thanking me for listening and praying with them. A woman I spoke with just last week said, "Thanks for reminding me that God hasn't abandoned me. I guess I always knew that, but I really needed to be reminded right now." I am grateful that Faith Aloud and their volunteer counselors are available to women like this who need to be reminded that God loves them.

Faith Aloud is a professional, compassionate, and ethical presence of justice in the world. The dedication they show to women around the world is reflective of the passion they have for reproductive justice and the empowerment of women.

Faith Aloud works tirelessly in the community, developing ethical and compassionate leaders of tomorrow.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the impact Faith Aloud has had in the community. Faith Aloud is becoming more and more evident in the area and is respected by clergy and clients alike. Without Faith Aloud, many women would feel as though they have nowhere to turn.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Change absolutely nothing. The only disappointment with this organization is that it is not receiving the funding it deserves for all of its hard work and endless dedication to women everywhere.

Faith Aloud is a wonderful organization that is helping all people to better understand the rights that should be given to all women. Faith Aloud is working to take the socail stigma away off of women that have had abortions. Faith Aloud is working to help women to learn that making a decision for their lives makes them strong not sinful.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Faith Aloud holds training classes to help clergy and other leaders to talk to women before and after abortions. I had the chance to attend one of these classes and was transformed. I learned that women need support and not shame.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

This organization and the work that it does is wonderful and necessary. I would not change a thing.

I've been volunteering on the board of trustees for Faith Aloud for five years. I have great respect of Faith Aloud and for the work it does. It is changing the landscape of reproductive justice in a badly needed way.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I counsel women who are struggling spiritually with a reproductive choice. Our organization brings hope to their lives and gives them spiritual language that affirms their life situation. We are changing the discourse of abortion one heart at a time.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Expand this organization. Give it a budget of $2.5 million so that it can do the work that is opening up before it. We need to invest in staff so as to expand our programming and outreach. The need for our services is huge.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing it make a real difference in people's lives.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated and energized by their work, and fully embodying our mission and vision.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand into every state and move on every opportunity that is coming its way.

Ways to make it better...

we had the funding to fully staff this organization.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

responding to the incredible outpouring of response with current staffing levels.

One thing I'd also say is that...

our executive director is fabulous and is the heart and soul of the organization. Her direction, her vision for its future and her ability to motivate and guide volunteers and staff, and to build relationships is incredible.

Faith Aloud provides an affirming, faith-based voice, counseling women who have had or are considering abortion. If it were not for this organization, many women would not have access to an alternative perspective from the faith community that states that they are children of God, no matter what, and that there is nothing that can separate them from the love of God (Romans). As a counselor, pastor, and mother of three daughters, I would not hesitate to refer anyone to this service. They offer guidance, not decisions, and reflect the great commandment -- to love God and to love neighbor.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

counseling women. Most have been post-abortion and of conservative faith backgrounds. They believed, without exception, that abortion had forever distanced them from God and the church. My role was to reassure them of God's love.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the opportunity to provide a rational, balanced, voice of faith to women in life-altering circumstances. Communicating love of God, especially to those who consider themselves unloveable or unclean, is perhaps the most important thing I've ever done.

I have worked with Faith Aloud's Executive Director for nearly a decade and I believe strongly in Faith Aloud's fills a valuable role in society-- Faith Aloud has given voice to women's religious dignity at a time when much of the morality conversation is about shaming women.

There is no question that this organization's lean operating model allows the most good to be done for women and families. In fact, the Faith Aloud team mobilizes volunteers effectively to serve women all over the United States and even internationally. The creative use of technology allows a Board of members from all over the country-- I am in South Florida-- to work together to support our shared beliefs and common mission.

Women need Faith Aloud. There is no question in my mind.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I think Faith Aloud needs more staffing in the "storytelling" department. I believe the stories Faith Aloud staff and volunteers share from the women they serve are so poignant they could change the national morality conversation. Storytelling staff include grant writers, political outreach directors, marketing managers. I believe that everyone needs to know what this small nonprofit based in St. Louis, MO, is accomplishing so that the conversation can change.

Will you volunteer or donate to this organization beyond what is required of board members?

In the past year or so, Faith Aloud has grown exponentially and has increased its impact so that it serves women nationally. This isn't a "national organization" in name only-- in the past year, Faith Aloud truly has supported women in nearly every state (and even other countries!), reached out to clergy in a spectrum of denominations, and supports clinic staff who will, in turn, serve thousands of women.

Even though I moved geographically far from the Faith Aloud headquarters, I am informed, involved and my passion for Faith Aloud's mission has not waned. One of the many things Faith Aloud manages well is communications on a tech-savvy and personal level.

In every way, Faith Aloud is a professional, outstanding nonprofit organization and the leader in its field.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

... outstanding communication and witness to its growth!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

... shout from the mountain tops that Faith Aloud is the premiere faithful and religious supporter reproductive justice! Faith Aloud is the organization you should join!

The Board of Directors and staff of Faith Aloud (previously, of MORCRC) are pioneers with sense; they respond creatively to the needs articulated by women and clinics and provide a public service in a way no other nonprofit has. Executive Director Reverend Rebecca Turner is a trustworthy, resourceful and innovative leader and her enthusiasm and compassion are mirrored by the volunteers, staff and Board of Directors. These are the experts, the leaders in the reproductive justice field. There is nothing quite like Faith Aloud, and certainly nothing so expertly run.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

... my career! Rev. Turner hired me as an intern and gave me every opportunity to learn about reproductive justice, nonprofit management, religion, social justice, Missouri politics... not every young person learns leadership hands-on. Thank you.
