As salaamu alaikum,

I don't remember how I came upon the Fadel Foundation. I've filled out so many scholarships over the past 2 years and have been rejected by all expect FEF. Masha Allah :) The brother is really helpful and will make the time to help you out if you have read the
instructions/FAQ and you're really trying. I plan to reapply for the 2014-2015 school year, Insha Allah.

I was in the process of applying for this scholarship and had a few questions so I decided to email the secretary to get more information. Below is the response I received. As a Muslim, being treated by another Muslim like this really broke my heart.

to me
The application notes I must submit official transcripts. If I have scanned copies of my transcripts, is it ok to just submit them along with my application instead of having the institutions send them to you directly? It will save cost that way.

these are all answered in the instructions. if you don't want to follow them, don't apply.

> read the instructions. there's no requirement for official documents on these scores.

don't ask me questions again until you read the instructions.

It's such a blessing to recieve the help from fellow muslims. I will be forever grateful for this scholarship! Insha'Allah I will donate once I become a dentist. Much love Fadel.

I'm currently an undergraduate student at an expensive liberal arts university (full cost: $65,000/year). FADEL, Alhamdulillah, has been incredibly helpful. Since I first applied two years ago in my senior year of high school, they have been every generous in their awards. I'm very thankful. Thank you FADEL.

The Great!

Like the other reviewers, more funding. I'm thankful for all that I have given, and would love to see that more people get it.

I worked in a state prison as a chaplain. My education was limited with my undergraduate degree in criminal justice. FEF provided significant funding that allowed me to complete 72 graduate credits in Islamic Chaplaincy. These specific advanced graduate studies are what is required for federal governmental employment. Other funding sources should consider matching FEF so that more qualified Muslim chaplains can be educated. My constructive feedback would be only that I hope more funding comes to FEF to help more students like myself help those incarcerated.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My graduation date is June 3, 2011. And several federal prisons have a dire need for qualified Muslim chaplains.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would change their endowment by adding at least three zeros to increase its capacity.

Since that time, I have wanted to relay to the organization what a benefit they are to the public in encouraging educational goals and promoting higher education for everyone. I hope to one day be able to give back to the group.

Alsalamu Alaykum, I was a single divorced mother raising a son without any child support and working full time making 1,500 monthly when I began to work on my masters degree. Thanks to Allah for Ayman Fadel's organization that made it possible for me to complete my degree and secure a better life for myself and my son. Hussnia

As salaamu alaykum! Each time I remember the Fadel Foundation, I become so emotional and I start pouring down duas (prayers)for them. It was in the year 1999, when I returned to the United States to continue my studies in the health field. Then by the qadar (destiny) of Allaah, I stumbled upon the Fadel Foundation website, and got hooked up with the application process. My actual studies as an undergrad started in summer of 2001, and throughout my undergrad studies from 2001 to 2006, I was a recipient of the Fadel Foundation grants. Alhamdulilaah. I also introduced my sibs, husband, and friends. Those that applied received the grants as well. Last year, on my quest to begin graduate school, I contacted the foundation to inquire about grants for graduate studies. I was so delighted to hear their positive feedback. In short, I have been a recipient for the past nine years, alhamdulilaah.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

many ways. The other people I spread the news to, also received educational grants. It was amazing.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their professionalism and the distance they would go to assist low-income deserving, talented students.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind and very willing to work out the awards with you and your school.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach out to so many students who do not have any idea that such a foundation like FEF does exist.

The FEF helped me with my medical school tuition 10 years ago. It made a huge difference to me and helped me achieve my goal of becoming a doctor. I found the FEF to be very organized & professional. I hope they continue to serve their great mission for many years to come.
