Over the past six years, I have been very pleased as a donor/volunteer with how each dollar is used by the Fabretto volunteers and the organization on the whole. I have seen the value of these monies in the programs offered to the children and their families. I will continue to donate my time and resources to this worthwhile cause.

It does good and it does it well. There is a family feel among the participants, the benefactors, the volunteers, the beneficiaries and the villages in which the organization's efforts are felt most.
I have worked as a volunteer with the Fabretto Foundation for the past 4 summers. I started coming down to teach Violin and Viola and then for the past 2 summers I worked as a translator for Volunteer groups. I have seen the change in the students over the 4 year period of time. Some of my students who were extremely shy my first time down there are now on scholarships to attend college to become engineers and computer technicians. Fabretto truly uses the education and other programs to help break the cycle of Poverty in Nicaragua and they do an incredible job!

My husband & I learned of Fabretto in 2002 when our daughter worked as a Jesuit Volunteer in Cusmapa. We visited her there & saw first hand the passion and dedication of Fabretto staff to educate and care for the children. We also witnessed their support for mothers who desired improved life & futures for their children. Since 2002 I have been amazed at the progress & growth the Fabretto organization has undergone & the fruits of all their efforts--so many programs, new buildings, increased numbers of children, etc, etc. We enjoy reading the newsletter to learn of the latest progress. GREAT ORGANIZATION!!!

I worked as a volunteer with Fabretto for a year and was consistently impressed with the work and management of the organization. Fabretto works in so many meaningful ways, to really help the children and families in their communities. The focus on food through the feeding programs, health, education, and vocational training really have substantial benefits on the students and the families. Watching the students in the center I worked in mature, develop, and learn was incredibly inspiring. The focus of Fabretto's efforts allowed many of our students to stay in school, when they would have needed to leave help their parents work. Not only is the work well thought out, well targeted, and well implemented, the organization is also incredibly innovative. The development of Fabretto products, ranging from coffee to jewelry and baskets brings a new entrepreneurial focus to the organization, helping the students learn about business and management in a socially responsible way. One thing I have learned while working down in Nicaragua with Fabretto is that donations can really have a tremendous impact on the centers; for example, $30 can feed a student for almost a month. And $1 a day can provide a student with shoes, a uniform, daily lunch, school supplies, tutoring classes, computer classes, and vocational classes. I was consistently amazed to see how much of a difference a single person donating even $1 a day could make in our center.

I first became acquainted with Fabretto in 2006 after moving to Nicaragua with my spouse - a foreign service officer. Over the course of two years, I became a Fabretto devotee. Now back in the United States, I continue to work with the organization--serving on their advisory board and helping them pursue federal and private partnerships. Fabretto has a proven track record of success in a country where far too many non-profits appear more impressive on paper than in reality. A visit to Fabretto's educational centers is an uplifting experience, and you get a real sense of how respected and appreciated Fabretto is in the communities in which it operates. Among other things, Fabretto feeds children's minds and stomachs. As a rseult, Fabretto's kids are happier and healthier and are better positioned to break the cycle of poverty that plagues far too many communities in Nicaragua. Fabretto is exactly the kind of organic and proven organization that deserves our support. I encourage anyone interested ine helping kids to consider supporting this great organization and its wonderful and committed staff. I simply cannot say enough good things about their efforts on behalf of Nicargua's children.

hard workers! This organization has had a powerful impact operating on a lean budget. This organization is not about building name recognition at the expense helping kids. Fabretto's staff works tirelessly because they know the stakes are too high not to.

I volunteered to write and edit grants targeted at gaining funds to expand the Health and Nutrition program for Fabretto. Through my experience I learned just how fantastic this organization is at getting the most benefit out of the monies they recieve. There are only a few people in the Arlington, VA office, but they work incredibly hard to keep the money coming in for the kids in Nicaragua. I truly hope I will be able to go with them sometime soon down to Nicaragua and experience everything they do there.

Dear all: I just would like to mention that I felt in love with Fabretto instantly when I saw their beautiful handmade baskets and their jewelry. So then, I started working with them as a volunteer which made me be so happy. Thanks to Fabretto for letting be part of them.

My first experiences with The Fabretto Children's Foundation were in Nicaragua during the summers of 2005, '06, & '07, when i assisted with the donors and volunteer groups that came down to see Fabretto's work first-hand. Unlike many organizations, Fabretto maintains very personal relationships with its donors and child sponsors, from accommodating requests for monies to go to certain projects to even inviting "friends" of Fabretto to visit the centers and see the program in action. Anyone interested in a long-term relationship with a "great non-profit", instilling real, tangible change in the developing world will not be disappointed by Fabretto's incredible programs!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
becoming a part of the "Fabretto Family"! I have been able to continuously contribute ever since I first became involved! Also, receiving letters and news from my ahijado Armando :)
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
compassionate, enthusiastic, committed, intelligent and innovative, and empowered by their experience with Fabretto!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
further expand programs to thousands of Nicaraguan children and their families; support more business and professional development initiatives for older students and their parents; and so many other programs!
Ways to make it better...
I could see the students, staff and communities that we impact in person, every day!!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
competing for donor dollars amongst all the other great organizations that work in Nicaragua and worldwide...
One thing I'd also say is that...
sponsoring a child costs only $1 a day and offers struggling Nicaraguan students infinite possibilities for their futures. Skip the Starbucks lattes and change a life!

Having seen their work first hand, I have becomed committed to the mission. Four ahijados so far, that will probably grow, translating letters, using the in-kind card-donations for most all event, well the list goes on. One can make a significant difference for the children of this poverty striken nation, braking teh cycle and giving them an opportunity to succeed.
