Experience Corps is a community based nonprofit organization that partners adults (50+) in public elementary schools as tutors/mentors. We aim to strengthen the community by utilizing the resources we already have- that is, the knowledge and understanding of our older citizens. Combining the experience, love, and expertise of older adults with public school youth creates lasting bonds which build stronger schools and stronger communities. In addition to providing Experience Corps volunteers with training, team building opportunities, and on-site support, we also provide monthly stipends to older adults able to serve 10 hours a week or more.

Winner of 2012 Eisner Foundation Award for Intergenerational Excellence.

Geographic areas served:

San Francisco, Oakland

We are at 17 public schools throughout San Francisco and Oakland. Serve in K-3 grade classrooms.
