Mission: The lives of millions of African children have been devastated by war, disease, poverty and injustice. Every Child Ministries seeks to accomplish its purpose by providing direct compassionate aid to abandoned and needy children, working for the release and rehabilitation of child slaves, providing training and teaching materials to African churches, enabling them to establish and strengthen Sunday schools and other youth ministries, offering Bible teaching in the schools, and providing assistance to war-affected children. At the discretion of the local churches who know the needs of their community best, the Sunday schools may teach practical subjects like health, nutrition and literacy in addition to character building stories from the Bible. Our goal, as God enables us, is to help every village or neighborhood in Africa that desires to start or strengthen such a ministry.

Every Child Ministries was founded in 1985 after John and Lorella Rouster saw children forcibly expelled from churches because there was insufficient room to seat children and adults at the same time, and because the churches had no idea how to teach the children separately. Our programs have expanded to meet many needs of African children, who will be the future leaders of the continent. ECM is especially committed to children normally marginalized by society.
Results: This year we were able to free 52 victims of ritual servitude in Ghana and offered two vocational training seminars to help these start new lives. We are also sending 2 of them to longer term vocational training, and we started a boutique to help them sell survivor-made goods in Ghana. In Uganda we helped 75 displaced families resettle and expand their agricultural work to better feed their families. We are also expanding our educational capacity at Haven of Hope Academy in Ghana, building a junior high school. 47 children now find safety, shelter and love at Haven of Hope Children's home in Ghana. In Uganda we expanded a project to help a child who had been ritually abused and then discarded in a sack and began a program to help Karimojong beggar children in Kampala.
Target demographics: Orphans and vulnerable children and youth (birth to 20 years) in Africa, especially in Ghana, Togo, Benin, DR Congo, Uganda, and New (southern) Sudan. Some of our programs encompass families. We seek to help outcast children who are rejected, forgotten or neglected by society at large.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 221.901
Geographic areas served: DR Congo, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Uganda, New Sudan
Programs: Haven of Hope Home for Children & Academy Street Children Initiatives vs. Child Trafficking, Child Slavery, Child Prostitution, Ritual Sacrifice Child sponsorship for education of vulnerable children Vocational training for street youth & former slaves Character Building from the Bible lessons for schools Training of national leadership for children & youth Child prisoners ministry Ministry to war-displaced children Ministry to African children with albinism The Way Home--forever families for orphans Grannies program-aid to grandmothers single-handedly raising orphans

This wonderful organization is doing great things with every penny they get. They operate out of a modest building, and find creative ways to stretch their funds. Led by John and Lorella, who themselves are very humble servants, the work of this mission has had and continues to have a positive impact in the lives of those whom they serve.

I became associated with ECM back in 2006 because of their focus on impoverished children in Africa, all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. SInce that time I have had an opportunity to become a financial supporter of this ministry and to sponsor a child in Africa. The impact of this ministry is greater than it's humble origins and low key website would indicate. Although not a high profile ministry, ECM has had a pivotal and lasting impact in several countries in Africa. Long before Kony became known in the international media, ECM staff were in Africa serving thousands of children who were traumatized by his reign of terror, quietly meeting the spiritual, material, and emotional needs of these chidlren. Dollar for dollar, I know this ministry is working amazing things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, because it is the power of HIs Spirit and HIs love that are being shared by ECM missionaries and staff. Although I also support other higher profile ministries involving children, ECM is closest to my heart!!!

My husband and I have been financial supporters of ECM for several years. The work they do is outstanding! These people minister to ALL those in need, no matter what their situation. Haven of Hope is serving as a home for children, where their spiritual and physical needs are being met. ECM will continue to do this great work as long as all of us stand along side them. Thank God for these people and the work they do.

Every Child Ministries is an amazing non-profit organization. They are helping to benefit the children and families of Africa. Their aid covers so much more than just financial. They help these children by educating them, by providing spiritual guidance, by feeding, clothing and restoring families. The list goes on and on. Please consider ECM as you compile your non-profits for giving list. May God continue to bless ECM.

ECM is an amazing non-profit, dedicated to improving the lives of children. My husband and I give monthly to their Haven of Hope project, which is a home for orphans and needy children. The newsletters we received detail the work that is being accomplished in the lives of these children and the adults that are also ministered to. Besides dealing with the physical needs of the children, ECM also ministers to their spiritual needs. The work that is being done here is nothing short of miraculous and spreads through out the entire community. Praise the Lord for the workers at ECM, who give of their own lives to be missionaries to those in need.

I am very impressed with this organization's sacrificial leadership; they are personally committed to keeping their overhead expenses low. The salary of the highest paid employee is quite low, and that is extremely inspiring to me. I don't have a large income, so I sacrifice a lot to give more. It is important to me to give to a charity with leaders that personally practice that same conviction. ECM is that charity. 96% of their funding is used directly on their good works toward the needy and the oppressed. Live simply so others can simply live. Thank you ECM!

I love the low overhead. I love that you don't send out fancy magazines with slick covers. I love a low budget website. Keep doing exactly what you're doing. I have often wondered if the $50 I was able to scrape together to give ended up going to the fancy magazine the charity puts out; I don't have to think about that with you guys. You know how to use $50. :)

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Nothing.

How did you learn about this organization?

Internet. I wanted to know what the president's salaries were of the different organizations that I was giving to. After hours of researching, I finally decided on only three charites; you guys are great and you are shining in the darkness. You are inspiring us to give more.

One day I took approximately 5 hours to thoroughly research charities because I wanted to be sure that our donations were being used responsibly. That is how I discovered that Every Child Ministries excels tremendously when it comes to integrity and the responsible handling of donations. They really are an example for other organizations to follow. The administration at Every Child Ministries go without themselves to ensure as much as possible gets to those who are truly in need. Because I know they are making these self sacrifices, I am truly inspired to make sacrifices myself so that I can also give as much as I can.

ECM is an amazing organization which works tirelessly to help the people of Africa and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been an ECM prayer partner for 7 years, since a friend volunteered in Ghana over the summer, and have continued to support this ministry in prayer ever since. They are absolutely dedicated to the betterment of the lives of the people of Africa, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

As a social worker, I have been impressed again and again how ECM succeeds at helping people thrive by addressing needs from a holistic approach. They are my favorite non-profit to support and as a sponsor, I enjoy how very personal the communications are. They're great at engaging their supporters. I trust them in regards to how they manage the money I send them and find them overall inspiring in their care for people.

I have sponsored two children through Every Child Ministries and my experience has been fantastic. ECM does exemplary work in reaching out to people in marginalized segments of society and with children in poverty who would otherwise be forgotten. I admire the work they have done with homeless street children, freeing and rehabilitating temple slaves, and making gains against sex trafficking in Africa. They look at people holistically and strive to meet basic, legal, educational, and spiritual needs. Additionally, they excel at communicating with sponsors, sending letters from children, frequent updates, and I even recevied a DVD which showed work at the school my child was living at and I got to see my child drumming and dancing. As a social worker, I have experience with many non-profit organizations and ECM recevies my highest commendation. I trust them implicitly with my donations and am grateful to play a small part in the valuable work they are doing.

I have known about ECM ministries for many years now and am always amazed at how God is using the people in this organization to make a difference in so many lives of not only African children, but also the men and women who have been blinded by false teachings. The hearts of those who willingly give of their time, money, and hard work just shows the love and dedication this ministry has to God and the African people. May God continue to use and bless this ministry.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Attending several of their ministry banquets and hearing about the work and progess accomplished.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I am pleased with what they are doing.
