Community Reviews

Rating: 5 stars

The YWCA - Evanston / Northshore is a wonderful organization. The organization touches many facets of the community, from the racial justice initiative, swim program, women's economic empowerment series and the domestic violence services. The organization's impact and strength can certainly be felt during the Race Against Hate event and the YWomen Leadership Awards. The staff at the YWCA - Evanston / Northshore are driven individuals who truly care about the mission of the organization and serving the community. I am so thankful to have such an amazing organization in my community!

I have been on the board of the YWCA Evanston/North Shore for a little over 2 years and am a witness to the wonderful programs and outreach effort supported and driven by this organizations. The YWCA runs a domestic violence shelter for women and provides training for the victims of domestic violence to help them get into or return to the work force, housing, and financial counseling. The YWCA is also heavily involved in education on race relations and ending racial hatred through hosting the annual Race Against Hate as well as community outreach through dialogues, workshops and training out race relations. Finally, there are the aquaitcs programs for adults and children. The costs are kept affordable to allow people from all walks of life to participate in a viaried number of programs.
