I am a mother and concerned citizen about protecting our world for my children. I have found solid advice and informatin on what can be done at my level, as well as what opportunities are available to my children. I have changed my buying habits in order to use minimal palm oil products and have started a saving program to both support this organization and to someday send both of my children to give of themselves in such a way. My children enjoy the videos, and save some of their allowance each week so that they can donate to it. What a great tool for teaching them about giving! Teaching our next generation and exposing them to this world view is invaluable to mothers such as myself, and is at least equally important to what they are learning every day in school.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Watching my children learn about the world outside of their own personal experience.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The quality of the work they do - the astounding work that went into setting up, recording, and presenting the experiences that they provide to our children.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Hard working, driven, and all-giving of themselves.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Be accessable to more children in more income brackets - changing our future generations and their world outlook, save the world!

I have seen this organization reach an incredibly diverse audience through their recent Borneo Expedition and the social media that was created in the field. The Director has a clear vision to bring the plight of the tropical rainforests to as many people around the world as possible and truly make an impact in conserving these biodiversity treasures.

The leaders of this organization were able to turn a dream into a reality in a few short months through sheer grit, hard work, and unfailing belief in their mission. With continuing support I have no doubt that they will make meaningful differences in the lives of individuals that join their expeditions, and toward resolving the global problems that they seek to address.

From the beginning, I shared in the mission and the vision of Ethical Expeditions to conserve the natural world through education and empowerment. I knew that the two founders could accomplish this if anyone could. I had worked with Brent and Sheryl in an international school and knew them to be intelligent, passionate and ethical people. Even knowing all of this, I was moved beyond what I had anticipated by the documentaries and blog entries from the fellows who went on the first expedition to Borneo. I know that for many of these students this expedition was a life changing experience -- even if they do not yet realize to what degree their lives have been changed. From this first expedition, there is the opportunity to support the local Dayak community empowering them to be able to conserve the Wehea rainforest. What an opportunity for such a young organization. These are the kinds of results that an organization headed by two people like Brent and Sheryl can accomplish.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

reviewing the results of the first expedition, reflecting on key lessons learned from the first expedition and considering plans for the future.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide them with enough money to make themselves widely known.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the impact the expedition had on the lives of the Dayak community and the involvement of so many different people and organizations in Indonesia and in the States.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

passionate, knowledgeable and ethical.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save the largest uncharted rainforest on earth, identify new species, and expand to other uncharted areas to empower the local communities to conserve the natural world and protect their livelihood and lifestyle.

Ways to make it better...

I could have gone on the expedition myself.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finding funding sources to actualize the vision and allowing Brent and Sheryl to draw a salary.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the impact Ethical Expeditions has made in only one year is amazing!

I came to be a donor for this non-profit by knowing one of the founders. He is an individual I know to be dedicated to academic excellence, goal setting and achieving, and fiscally responsible. I have watched this program develop via the website and facebook and am thrilled that the first educational expedition was a success for the students and the organization. The student's videos and blogs document that ON-SITE EDUCATION about what is happening in the environment is a great learning tool and use of social media to pass the education and experience on to others can have a far-reaching impact.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

being educated online by the documentaries the students made about their educational experience

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Can't think of anything.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Frequent updates about the student trips.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I have not met anyone personally

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide more trips to students and develop methods for sharing the education with others to get the conservation education out to a larger audience.

Ways to make it better...

I could have gone on the educational trip myself!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Apathy and consumerism. That is why a larger budget that would allow a bigger voice would be helpful.

I like to keep track of what this young but experienced and energetic non-profit is up to. They are going strong against deforestation, which has a huge impact on climate change, and they are already making a real difference - not only working hands-on in the field, but also involving students and communities in a manner that the combined passion and determination manages to open doors and break down barriers. At this very sensitive time we are living, we need more people doing this type of work!

Ethical Expeditions recently led an expedition with 18 university students for 8 weeks through East Kalimantan, Indonesia. They brought incredible awareness about the challenges currently facing Borneo through their blogs and documentary videos. The incredible amount of awareness they generated both in Borneo and also back in North America is critical for helping to save some of the remaining forests of Borneo. Keep up the good work!!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The passion they have for education and conservation! Their documentary videos are excellent and should be viewed in schools across North America. Also, their current projects in Borneo are very exciting and will help to empower the indigenous Dayaks.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Bring Environmental Awareness to individuals around the world and help conserve some of the last intact tropical rainforests in the world.

During the recent student expedition to Borneo, I followed the student writings and video blogs as they researched and gained knowledge regarding the problems facing this area of the world. However, Ethical Expeditions goes beyond just this expedition as they are constantly informing us about climate change, environmental concerns and ways we can play a part in combating environmental degradation. Ethical Expeditions is dedicated to creating positive change through education and experience.

effectively educate the populace who are doing a good show of keeping their heads in the sand regarding the environmental catastrophe which is looming.

The Ethical Expeditions trip to Borneo was incredibly beneficial to my education. The trip allowed me to talk to leaders of large and small NGO's, scientists and activists. We produced documentary videos during the trip to increase awareness about environmental issues. Learning to interview people and create a visually effective means of communication helped the learning process. We were also engaged in readings and discussions about various controversial issues in environmental conservation initiatives. I learned alot through my participation in this program.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Displaying my photography and showing my documentary at various public venues to create awareness about the environmental issues in Borneo.
