Great information on Erowid. Much better education on drugs than any agency or government will give.
Erowid has been an indispensable source of information regarding psychoactive chemicals throughout my life. Without the information available here I might have seriously hurt myself because of lack of knowledge of what I was doing.
Knowledge is indeed power, and gatekeepers can manipulate info.
Erowid's databases cover chemical and spiritual routes to altered states.
Great online library of religious texts, too.
This has to be general knowledge to a new era of Humans. The capabilities of a human are limited by his own conscience fed by shady rules. Erowid in that sense is a true liberation of humanness.
Carries a wealth of knowledge build by experts and it's community alike, over many years. Is and has been a consistent source of unbiased and fact based information about psychoactive substances, in a climate of extreme polarisation and bias. Never encourages drug use, but is a clear proponent for scientific, harm reduction strategies and policies.
An absolute goldmine of information regarding psychoactive substances of all kinds. Many external links for further reading. Basics for what to expect, chemistry for those with a bit more knowledge for most common substances, and a wealth of personal reports from the occasional user to those struggling with dependency (whether through prescriptions or other less-than-legal aquisitions.) I personally believe it has saved my life by having a place to start with harder drugs other than word of mouth (DXM, Oxycontin, and to a lesser degree psychedelics.) Must read for anyone who wants to be halfway responsible with their drug use.
These guys are always there when I need them. From the basic info pages, to the experience reports I can count on things being factual and interesting.
Erowid supports a vast wealth of accurate and unbiased information on nearly any substance, exercise or practice one might undergo in order to achieve some change in perception. Not just about the raw facts and data, but also with the user-submitted reports from thousands of people who have had very real experiences ranging from absolute nightmares to life-affirming realizations and pure bliss. The information provided has no doubt saved lives and helps to educate those that are curious, regardless of whether they use or even approve of the behavior. The only possible con is that the website's layout/style could use an update.
The #1 resource on all things drug related, truly a shining beacon of psychoactive research in the mire that is drug "information" disseminated by the media.
The amount of hard work done by the people at Erowid cannot be thanked enough by words. The best place to find any type of information regarding any type of drug. Not only information about pharmacology, dosages, effects, benefits and risks, but also users' experiences, law, culture, art. And everything is so beautifully objective and unbiased. They deserve way more recognition and funding.
I have been using Erowid's resources since the early 2000s and it's information has only expanded and become more refined over the years thanks to dutiful editing and curation by the wonderful (and small) staff. Nowhere else on the web is this type and quality of information available in one place. The information contained within and especially user-submitted narratives of first-hand experience will be vastly interesting to future generations seeking to understand this culture.
