Enotah CASA has enabled me to help children who have been neglected and abused by their families. These children have nonone in their lives to make certain they receive the nurturing and care that will enable them to grow and thrive. The program provides logistical support which helps me learn about the child and the facts of the case. The CASA staff coordinates court dates and provides me with written communication from the court. When necessary, they make copies of my reports so they can be provided to the people (judge, DFCS, parents, attorneys, etc.) who are involved in the case. After thirty-two years in education, this program has given me a way to stay involved with the growth and development of children and allowed me to feel that I am still making a contribution to the future of this country. I feel that I am making a difference in the lives of children who have noone to be an advocate for them.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The children who have been provided with a stable, supportive living environment. I have seen the children's faces when I have told them my responsibility is to be their voice before the judge and the other adults.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I want to continue serving as a volunteer and leave the leadership to those currently in those positions.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The opportunity to feel that I am still contributing to the future of the children I serve through this program.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

People who care about children and have been willing and cooperative in helping me serve the children involved in my cases.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Begin to really make a difference in all the children who need an advocate to help ensure that they get the nurturing and support they need to become successful adults and break the cycle of neglect & abuse.

Ways to make it better...

The government agencies who work with children had staff to provide support to the children involved. Juvenile court had the resources to devote to each case that would help all the children who need support.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Lack of public awareness; lack of financial support; overworked and congested state & local agencies, including juvenile court; lack of options for children who need temporary or long-term living options (our foster care system is totally inadequate)

One thing I'd also say is that...

This program is a wonderful opportunity to help define the future of a child and our country.

I believe it would be helpful to link CASA and especially ENOTAH CASA to foster parent groups. This is a source for possible future volunteers to the CASA program AND a ggod way to engender cooperation from foster parents when working with CASA volunteers. The training program is a really good start for CASA volunteers. Helpful would be time spent MORE on resousrces available. I do believe that having access to local counseling agencies and knowing where facilities for children are located and the services which they offer would be helpful. I personally enjoy going to court to give additional insight into children's needs which otherwise might not be an option for the judge to know. Establishing a good relationship with the judge and other court workers could be enhanced were these people introduced to potential CASA volunteers during training or perhaps thru peer group. Know who does what and who they are would be helpful. I enjoy the support available thru CASA Advocate Coordinators and would not be able to do my job eithout knowing that I have the thoughtful support of these telented people. My biggest reward comes when 'my children' have a safe and loving home. This month one child was adopted and one found safety with a relative placement. Several more are awaiting finalization in adoptive homes. My saddest finding is that so few children are able to return to their families of origin.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

allowing options for children which might have been overlooked by a heavily burdened DFCS and Juvenile Court.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing smiles on my assined childrens' faces and seeing them succeed in school and family life.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

knowledgeable and helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Purchase its own building thus allowing space for more services to support families. This would allow more children to return to families of origin or to find families of choice.
