Rosalie Giffoniello is a retired teacher, founder of the charity Empower the Children in 1999, and runs the charity herself as virtually a "one man show" with salaries paid only to Indian teachers. She takes no salary and pays most of her own expenses to go to India and supervise the provision of housing, feeding and educational services directly to orphans and poor children in Calcutta, India. For 2010 (budgeted) and 2009 (actual) administrative costs were $1300 and program expenditures $38.000 (which translates into hundreds of thousand rupees).

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I personally know Mrs. Giffonielo, have donated and discussed the results with her, and have discussed the results with a visitor to Calcutta. Several articles have appeared in the media and a video is available about the services provided.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

None needed. Mrs. Giffoniello IS the organization.
