Mission: Founded in 1985, we provide employment and independent living services to individuals with disabilities. We envision a society that embraces all its members as full partners in their community. Our goal is to assist individuals to become productive tax paying citizens. Our mission is to create and support opportunities for adults with disabilities and disadvantaged seniors in making choices to live, work and enjoy life with dignity and respect. For 23 years, we were a division of the Foundation for Educational Achievement under the name of Community Options. Effective March 1, 2008 we became a free standing non-profit organization named Employment & Community Options.

I have been to two Holiday Fund Raisers. Both times I have been very impressed with the staff, and the clients. The compassion from the staff and the joy I see in the clients faces and eyes cannot be described. It's special.... Employment and Community Options is awesome...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing....

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Add to it's staff and provide many more job opportunities for their clients.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

I have observed the program in action and worked closely with staff and management. This organization provides an important public service in a highly professional and caring way. Their consumers are their top priority and the organization takes its responsibilities to them very seriously. Nancy Batterman provides tremendous leadership and is always looking for new ways to further the organization's goals.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make sure that every person in the state of California with a developmental disability received the services they need to lead a full and productive life within their limitations, and to achieve the independence that the rest of us take for granted.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

My son has cerebral palsy and developmental delays. He was fortunate to obtain a placement in the Poway program one year ago. He absolutely loves going to his "job" and seeing his job coaches. The staff is caring, always available for consults, and they work hard to make sure all consumers are happy and productive. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking for a caring, clean, and happy work site for their loved one!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing my son develop as a happy, productive person.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The willingness of the staff to work with each individual and his or her caregiver/parent.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Fantastic! Organized, eager to work and happy to be there.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand the program (size is limited), abd provide additional activities for the consumers

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
