The Electric Theatre Company (ETC) has so much to offer the people in NE PA. The vast array of talent they bring in from Broadway to local individuals is absolutely wonderful. ETC offers the people in and around NEPA the opportunity to see many original plays and readings, dance groups and musicians. ETC also offers local actors a chance to hone their skills in voice, acting and movement. There are so many talented people who are willing to share their experiences with everyone and to help us all learn. Classes at ETC's Griffin Conservatory have helped me with my acting, voice and movement skills and have given me the enthusiasm and confidence I needed to get out in the local community theater groups and audition for a broad range of characters. I recommend to anyone, anywhere to come and see what ETC has to offer.

The Great!
  • I've seen the results of this organization in... obtaining roles in plays because of the confidence I gained by taking ETC's Griffin Conservatory classes.
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... the wonderful talent that is presented on the stage.
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... very encouraging to me.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... provide us with so many wonderful shows that people in NE PA would never have to go to NYC to experience live entertainment!
Ways to make it better!
  • My experience would have been better if... more classes could be offered to me during the summer months.
  • If I had to make changes to this organization, I would… like to enjoy this organization all year long (including the summer months).
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... lack of monetary support from the community and government agencies.
  • One thing I'd also say is that... I hope that ETC continues to grow and thrive in the years to come.

Electric Theatre Company (ETC) is a gem. Their productions are top notch. ETC has some very creative people in the company and they do everything from commedia to world premieres. They run 7-8 shows per season. Their outreach to the community and in particular to students is commendable. ETC runs a conservatory for actors and offers an intensive study abroad program in Italy during the summer - participants study commedia and Italian and at the end of 3 weeks perform in Italian in front of an Italian audience. This season ETC started Out on a Limb, a series for company members to try things they've always wanted to do, to go, well, out on a limb. Audiences have been treated to readings of new plays, cabarets, comedy, and clowns, and the season isn't over yet. Finally, there's the commitment, the passion and the dedication of the company and staff at ETC. They are some of the warmest, most caring people, and that comes through to their work on and behind stage.

The Great!
  • I've seen the results of this organization in... every visit, every performance. They do deliver 'entertainment that is food for the soul.'
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... the opportunity to experience great live theatre in Scranton.
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... passionate, talented, dedicated to their art, and great people to know.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... do so many things - more outreach to the community, new plays, more performances, more work with students of all ages...
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... finances, always difficult but in the current economic climate very challenging
