Ecuador Mi Pais has a very special place in my heart. I believe education in a catalyst for empowerment, progress and dignity, and for this reason I support a cause that provides education to low-income children in Ecuador. I have met extraordinary friends through this organization, and I love how committed we are to keep helping so many children that need help. The work we do feel our lives with joy and pride, and we welcome all help, ideas, suggestions and contributions. Thank you!

It was a great pleasure to find an organization of young professionals like myself who wanted to do something for their own country, Ecuador. The solution to all of our socioeconomic problems is certainly to have a population with higher education potential. Education is the key to build up a better country. Our culture is barely known outside our country, but we have plenty of natural resources and a rich cultural background, considering the size of our small country. Therefore, we need to be able to share it with the rest of the world. We have an increasing number of families living outside of Ecuador, so we need to build up our networking channels that would allow us to serve our country. Our major goal would be to help out our youth to achieve education, while increasing the cultural awareness of our small country.

...I have only attended a few events organized by Ecuador Mi Pais, but I can tell that they need a little bit more help from outside resources. Perhaps, a few companies and/or institutions (eg. universities, hospitals, etc.) could support their noble cause and will push ahead some of their current programs and ambitious goals.

Increase on the number of social activities to make our organization gain from extra resources brought along by an increasing number of members.
This is an organization that was born from passionate individuals. People with love for their country and real concern for the issues that affect it. The fact that it is volunteer-based says it all, everyone, from the president to the occasional volunteer give their time and efforts with only one expectation: giving the chance to succeed to children in Ecuador. In order to reach the next level, they need to get some funding. They have done amazing things with very little, I think that with a little financial help, they will continue making a difference in their country and the World!!

try to make some of the leadership positions paid and bring a consultant with expertise in expanding non-profit organizations to aid in the growth of this great organization.
Ecuador Mi País was formed six years ago by a group of Ecuadorian and U.S. volunteers in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
Since then, it has grown into an organization with almost 4,000 members on its Facebook Causes page (http://www.causes.com/ecuadormipais), an established non-profit organization with an IRS 501.c.3 status for tax deductions on donations, tens of thousands of dollars in donations, and hundreds of low-income children that have received assistance for their education in Ecuador (in many cases, allowing them to remain in school).
Ecuador Mi Pais has won a "Giving Challenge" organized by the Case Foundation, Facebook Causes and PARADE Publications, and has received other recognitions.
As a volunteer advisor of an all-volunteer organization, I am proud to say that Ecuador Mi País has made a great difference in the lives of hundreds of childen.

Meeting the children and young people that have been able to remain in school, and in some cases go one to study in college, has been a joyful and wonderful experience. In some cases, these children were at risk of dropping out and losing hope, and Ecuador Mi Pais has made a huge difference in their lives.

Provide greater opportunities for the personal involvement of more volunteers.
THis organization brings together a once unconnected population together to develop something extraordinary. In a community filled with many nationalities and temporary residents it is difficult to feel a sense of community or count on the network. In addition to developing a sense of community this organization helps people come together over this connection to help others. I am a college student from Ecuador who was going through a difficult time adjusting to a new city without a familiar network or support base. The organization hosted a Colada Morada day at a local restaurant, through this event I participated in a cultural tradition and met other ecuadorians who provided helpful advice and stayed in touch. In this event they had a cooking demonstration and collected funds to help schools in ecuador. THey not only help improve the community by connecting people with a common national background, they also unite them in helping others. I think that Washington DC is better because there is an organization that represents and unites ecuadorians in all their interests. I would love to see them succeed and increase their impact.

I would increase outreach events and include a variety of these events available for different stages of life. For example, a happy hour, a picnic, or fanesca. I would love to have some sort of reunion or annual event and collaboration with the embassy.
Ecuador Mi Pais has encourage so many Ecuadorian professionals to support and promote better education and better future to hundreds of poor children in Ecuador. We continue to believe that education is the key factor to take a person, a family, a city and a whole country out of poverty and ignorance. We will continue supporting this effort.

EMP is a great opportunity to give and also receive back. You give a gigantic chance in life to kids and get back such a great feeling that a smile is drawn on your face forever.

when talking to the recipients of scholarships and their families, I met a few of them and they were so grateful for the effort done because otherwise these children could be on the streets, not in school as they should be.

Ecuador Mi Pais has provided me the opportunity to work closely with Ecuador and to strengthen my ties to the country despite the distance. Also, the group volunteers are very energetic and inspiring, all of them have a great love for what they do and it shows. We have built a team that has become a family. Furthermore, the goal of the organization to promote education is Ecuador is very engaging. It has given me the opportunity to work for something that I believe has an impact.

Work towards increasing the number of members actively working in EMP activities
This organization changed my life! Volunteering for EMP opened my eyes in the sense that I was a 9 to 5 employee in a regular company, but when I volunteered for EMP I understood that my work had an impact in the world. Specially, working for an organization that educates children that cannot go school due to lack of resources.
