EARTH University Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to support scholarships and programs for EARTH University in Costa Rica. EARTH is an international, private, non-profit university located in Costa Rica, dedicated to education in the agricultural sciences. EARTH strives to prepare leaders with ethical values to contribute to the sustainable development of the world and to construct a prosperous and just society. EARTH’s actions are aimed at building a future in which all countries and their communities achieve social, economic and environmental well-being.
Programs: As part of EARTH University's rigorous curriculum and concentration on ethical values, the following three programs were developed:The Community Development Program (CDP) trains students to become leaders in their local communities, working as professionals with strong ethical and social values. The Program, which consists of two modules: community work and family experience-creates space for interaction, research, and educational processes between local farmers, students, and professors. The Program promotes students' social consciousness, encouraging them to remain involved and continue to work for holistic social development after leaving the university. The Entrepreneurial Projects Program systematically develops in each student an entrepreneurial mentality as well as the business skills required by agricultural professionals in the twenty-first century. The goals of this Program are to: Train students to become entrepreneurs, capable of integrating the economic, social, and environmental aspects of a business; Promote the creation of economically profitable, ecologically viable, and socially acceptable food production enterprises, and to develop value added businesses in the agricultural food system; and develop students? leadership skills. The Center for Entrepreneurial Formation (CFE), was created as the point of entry for graduates seeking financing through the Graduate Business Initiatives Program. The potential clients of this loan program, who must be EARTH University graduates, submit a fully developed business plan to the CFE for review. The CFE evaluates the proposals, provides feedback, prepares detailed profiles of all applicants, and makes a recommendation to approve or decline all proposals. Successful proposals, in addition to being financially sound, will embody EARTH's mission to promote sustainable development. Other programs include student recruitment, research, and internships.
