Dress for success creates new worlds for women – weather it is volunteering or in offering services to women in need. I love the opportunity to be able to support an organization that has heart and empowers women with their programs and services.

Dress for Success Atlanta has a great mission and one that I am happy to support. Helping underprivileged women find jobs and get dressed for success is such a powerful cause and DFSA is the best! As an organization they are very organized and will do what it takes to fundraise and find the resources necessary to support their mission. The only thing that I feel would help the organization to be better would be to use more outside advertising for events to gain awareness. More people would come if they were using more than just facebook, twitter and the website.

It is such an honor to know that the work I do will directly affect women in my hometown that don't have the means necessary to obtain not only a job, but i rewarding, successful career!

Outside marketing. Spend more time/effort on this area to get more people to the events to raise more money!

I came to DFS Atlanta in 2001 when I moved from NYC. With my employment file transferred to the Atlanta branch, I was assured a job. No one told me the job was in Tucker, unable to be reached by MARTA. For the first time in my life I was unemployed. I also lost my apartment application. Me and my six year old was living with my sister in her one bedroom apartment sleeping on the floor. I applied for emergency food stamps and was told that I would have to join a job readiness program. I was referred to DFS Atlanta. Thats when my life changed for the better. I found a job, got an apartment, completed college, learned leaderships skills. It has been a life changing experience that has made me more productive and confident as a women.

each year Dress for Success Atlanta serves an increasing number of women via our suiting programs, Career Center, and Professional Women's group. In 2009, 1750 women were served. Things that we can do to strengthen the organization: - create more and deeper partnerships with companies and other organizations in order to generate consistent funding sources - drive awareness of and participation in the Professional Women's group program

Like many smaller non-profits, DFS-A struggles to bring in the financial contributions that it needs to sustain its operations. Spreading the word about DFS-A is an important task that I am only happy to do. Once people know about DFS-A, they want to support it. Keeping it on the top of donor's radar is the hard part with all of the other worthy organizations that exist in the area.

Having worked with a variety of non-profits over the past few years, I have not seen many where the board and the staff really made a sincere effort to do EVERYTHING in the best interest of the clients we serve. Our biggest issue is the ability to tap in to the community and the resources where we can get the BIG dollars. With the global name DFS has, there is no reason we should not be able to get 10x what we are receiving in donations.

by seeing the change in these women who come through and get prepared for going in to the working world. It's amazing what a new outfit and a little bit of career preparation can do to boost someone's self esteem.

I attended our major fundraiser which was a fundraiser at the Palomar to honor champions who have supported our chapter. It was a wonderful event that honored our champions and our key speaker was Joi Gordon who gave a very inspiratonal speech about how she became involved in Dress for Success. It was a great way to start the day.

I recently went to support the Professional Women’s Group. I went tired, not wanting to go because there was so much to do and the BEST thing I did all month was going. The women there were so inspiring, having gone thru difficult times in life; they still had a positive attitude and have kept moving up and pulling others up with them. Experiencing this as a board member makes me proud of this organization that supports women from the inside to the outside, Thank you!

As a volunteer, I've seen first hand how Dress for Success Atlanta changes lives. The suit is just part of a more in-depth process that helps a woman prepare for her job interview, sharpen her skills and confidence while looking for a job and retain and grow in her job once employed.
