The time I got to spend with Dreams for Kids was one of the most rewarding experiences of my lifetime. I enjoyed waking up for work everyday- as I would walk into an office of friendly people that were passionate about empowering youth and enacting social change. What made my job so rewarding though, was not only the people I worked with, but also seeing the work in the office pay off. Having the opportunity to travel to numerous Dreams for Kids events, I was able to see firsthand the impact DFK had on these children’s lives. Seeing these kids so grateful to be apart of this organization really demonstrated how powerful it truly is. This power is growing as DFK is teaching children all over country and the global community to pay to forward.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

When I was able to work with kids directly at events and visit teenagers in schools and institutions. Seeing their faces light up as they were realized that they had something to give was breathtaking.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The people I worked with and the teenagers that I got to meet. Seeing these teenagers in wheelchairs or that have nothing were incredibly inspiring as they were grateful for what they had and understood the concept that everyone has something to give.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

passionate about their jobs, unique and always willing to help. Everyone brought something different to the table, and everyone shared the common goal/mission of DFK.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Open numerous offices throughout the country, expand global initiatives, facilitate dream leaders conferences globally, host extreme recess events nationally, and have dream leaders all over come together in a collective effort to empower youth.

Dreams for Kids is an awesome place to work because not only are you gaining real world experience but you are also helping to create a great change. It is inspirational to see the hard work of all the staff come together for events and conferences. Also, the rewards for working for such a great company is far beyond gaining experience when you actually get to meet the children with whom we run programs with and really see how we are making a change.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

When I got the chance to volunteer at the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education (ICRE) I got to meet the teens and work with them one on one. It was a rewarding experience but it also allowed me to see how our work was put into play.

Ways to make it better...

I had known more interns. I came into the office throughout the summer and did not know any of the new interns that were hired. It was rather awkward sitting in a room full of people I didn't know especially when I had been working there longer than them.
