Dr. Susan Love is a pioneer in the field of breast cancer research. She understands that there has been little advancement toward the prevention and cure of breast cancer. "We are victims of our own success," is how she describes the lack of progress. Because we are surviving in such great numbers, the research seems to have stalled. It is her goal to continue to do cutting edge research to understand WHY we develop breast cancer so that the disease may be cured in those of us already living with a breast cancer diagnosis and more importantly, so it may be prevented in future generations. Since survival comes at a cost to us on so many levels-physical, emotional, intellectual, I stand solidly behind anyone who is looking to END this disease once and for all. She realizes we need to be studying women, NOT MICE as mice do not get breast cancer. In addition, she founded the Love/Avon Army of Women which is an ingenious initiative where women can join a database and when a research study needs participants, an email will be sent to all those enrolled at Army of Women. Studies are being filled more quickly. Susan Love is an out of the box thinker and I believe that she will be at the forefront of any meaningful advances made toward the cure/prevention of breast cancer.
