This is a fantastic resource for the Spring area. The facility houses a very nice collection, an excellent children's section and features plenty of activities for seniors. It is as close as I have seen, in this commuter area of town, to a community hub. Further, it forms the backbone, together with the new museum and the frequent concerts at the church across the street, of a growing cultural nexus in this largely suburban-rural community

The staff is first rate, if overworked, and are always helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Research, writitng and recreational reading.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Maintain its budget and help expand its collections.

I fell in love with this library when I first moved here 8 years ago. The building itself was beautiful, but that it was a hive of activity is what appealed to me the most. One time I was at the library returning a book that I had not quite finished, so I sat down to read. As I came to the end, I was puzzled, not understanding the ending, not happy with it. I marched in to the head librarian's office, wanting an explanation. Now I'm sure this is not specifically in her job description, but, nonplussed, she began researching the book on her computer, as if crazed readers who want to discuss a story's ending were every day events! I was hooked. It truly is a place that serves the community. The staff upstairs were friendly as they helped familiarize me with the book collection, always going the extra mile to locate items for me. I was lucky to become involved as a volunteer with the ESL Tutoring program students who enriched my life. I met many interesting people when working in the Book Store. I enjoy helping out with The Barbara Bush Friends of the Library and witnessing their dedication to support this fine library.

Every week I go to this library with my wife and son. We want to encourage him to love reading like we do, so we choose books each week and read to him before bed every night. Without the service this library gives us we wouldn't be able to afford new books for my son to experience. He already will often prefer sitting in my lap to read a book than playing with a toy.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

buy more children's books - with more money from this fund, perhaps?

The programs offered by the CCFOL at Barbara Bush Libarary are excellent. Years ago my children all enjoyed story times. Now my oldest is out of college and my youngest is finishing high school. Every one of them found great programs as they grew. They enjoyed the library so much that they frequently asked to stop for a book after we would visit a nearby park for a soccer game or picnic. The Friends of the Library have helped to make this place the kind of community hub that it should be.

The growth of my children, their hunger for books and learning, and more

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make sure that opportunities to support the programs with resources or service are publicized even better (they already do a great job, but more participation is better)

I love the summer programs for kids. When my kids were small they loved storytime. Last summer my preteen son learned how to play go and looked forward to playing every week. I also like the self checkout.

This place is fantastic! I love being able to download audio books and load them on my MP3 player. This is a great way to keep up on my reading while working out. I hope they get more because there is no way I could enjoy all the books and movies I have without the library.

My workouts are more enjoyable because I get to listen to stories I have downloaded from here. I get to “read” and stay in shape, it’s a great way to multi task with a hectic life.

I would add more electronic content to download

I have been on the Board of the CCFOL, now known at the Barbara Bush Library Friends for over 12 years. This group works hard to provide materials and services the county is unable to provide. They built a computer lab, supported the installation of a mural in the children's area, continue to provide funds to hire 2 - 4 extra part time staff in the summer, and buy books and other materials for the library just to name a few. They are professional in all aspects of what they do. I have stayed on the board for as long as I have because I believe in what they do.

Wonderful library, staff is friendly and also helpful. Many activities for all - story time, teen programs, yoga, book club, science club for kids. Each year all the third grade students from Klein Independent School District are presented a program to familiarize each student with the library and then given a tour of the facility.
Due to budget constraints our library is now closed on Sundays which is very sad for working families.

I belong to the Enrichment and Brotherhood Organization of Northwest Youth. We have held our meetings at the library for over 20 years. Four years ago, the librarian asked us to co-sponsor the African American Read-In at the library. In addition to using the library facilities to host the event, the Cypress Creek Friends of the Library were very instrumental in helping us with the event. They provided financial assistance and very friendly volunteers to help on the day of the event. This is a community event and it would not be successful without the support of the Cypress Creek Friends of the Library.
