My husband and I started volunteering for the meals on wheels program in 2010. Unfortunately we had to stop when he was diagnosed with cancer in May 2011. He is doing better and we anticipate returning in the near future. We did not know much about everything involved with the CRRC. But have learned that they do more for the community of Canyon Lake than we could have imagined. Not only do they provide the area for the meals on wheels volunteer delivery but also provide needy families with food pantry items and monetary assistance at times. Also available to the entire community is a thrift shop with numerous items of clothing, furniture and house hold items at very reasonable prices. The entire staff is wonderful and very caring.

Being a volunteer at CRRC has had a profound effect on my life. But more importantly, I see the profound effect it has had on the lives of many other people. People whose life depends on CRRC just to make ends meet. Everyone who walks in the door is greeted with kindness, compassion and dignity by everyone involved. Whether it is the food pantry, the thrift store or the recreation center, everyone is treated the same and is always made to feel welcome. I have personally seen the gratitude on the faces of all who come there for help. I thank God for being a small part of it and this organization is in need of and deserving of any and all help they can possible receive.

I'm so glad to get a chance to extol the kudos of CRRC in Sattler. I am an avid 'shopper' at the Thrift Store, which is not only "fun" to shop due to it's well-organized items, but the caliber of clothing, housewares and furniture is excellent. Also, I am a member of the Silver Sneakers and the facility at the Rec Center is outstanding - as well as the trainers. Many Seniors in this community would never be able to participate in an exercise program if it wasn't for this center. And... I also use the Senior Event Center - will have my 55th Anniversary Celebration there in April. There's so much more I could say about the CRRC, but space dictates. The people who actually 'run' this organization are the BEST!

I currently volunteer at the Community Resource and Recreation Center (CRRC) Crisis Food Pantry in Canyon Lake, Texas. As such, I have seen, firsthand, how the services provided by the CRRC not only support so many people in need, but offer social and recreational activities to the community that would not otherwise be available. Even the fundraising activities such as the Thrift Store, Market Days, and North Pole Village offer valuable and enjoyable benefits to the local communities. The staff, volunteers, and board members constantly find ways to stretch dollars, improve services, and give freely of their time to make life better in the Canyon Lake area. Their enthusiasm and energy is abundant and obvious at every level and becomes contagious, helping to lift the spirits of everyone who becomes acquainted with, or relies upon the CRRC. The strides made by this organization over the last few years have been extraordinary and ensured a growing need will be met. I am proud to be a member of the CRRC family.

The CRRC Food Pantry provides a valuable service to the community and spread their resources to many needy families through generous contributions of money, food, donated items, and the personal time of a dedicated staff and several volunteers. Frequently, the support provided to these people is the only thing that stands between them and tragedy. All of Canyon Lake should be proud of this service and facilities.

I started with, then CLAC, circa 2000, with a Hunger Walk (national) supporting food pantries....Since then I've been there most every Monday, filling grocery carts, lending durable medical equipment, helping folk fill out forms to receive help in crisis situations, stocking shelves and doing filing and arrest records (we like to have a whole picture...though we help as we can, because of or in spite of)......Here I am 12 years later committing many hours a month and with great joy in the delightful mix of people becoming friends as we work together.

Terrific resource for the community at Canyon Lake, Tx, from exercise programs to special events for seniors and youngsters, as well as lots of sporting events! We would have a hard time without the CRRC!

CRRC at Canyon Lake, Texas, provides an essential service to the Canyon Lake community. As a rural population, resources in the area are somewhat limited in terms of opportunities available; however, CRRC enlists a very creative staff to provide excellent exercise and sports programs as well as a much-needed food bank for residents of this area.
I have participated in the Silver Sneakers exercise program for seniors since retiring four years ago and have watched a dedicated group of individuals in all types of physical abilities engage in exercise and friendship.
CRRC is very active in community initiatives and provides a superb service to all age groups. I highly recommend them as a recipient of the $5000 grant. Thank you.

I'm biased since I'm on the CRRC Advisory Board, but this non-profit serves all members of the Canyon Lake community with their sports programs, senior center, food pantry, thrift store, and crisis program. My favorite program is North Pole Village held during the holidays. The Rec Center is turned into a winter wonderland designed for kids and adults alike. I've painted little faces there for the last several years and the the look of joy on a child's face seeing a snowman on their tiny cheek is priceless. North Pole Village provides precious family memories for everyone who attends and you can't put a pricetag on that.

working in our food bank over the past few years I have recognized an increase of hundreds of new clients needing our assistance. At the same time I realize the Food Bank is having to stretch its dollar to get the kind of food that was more easily avialable to use two years ago. I feel bad not being able to hand out the fresh produce, milk, eggs, and fruit that we use to have. But, our clients are always greatful. We have added free finance classes for the clients to help them use their resources more wisely. Our directors are ever diligent in providing the best that we can give on our limited budgeta.

Working at the CRRC Food Bank is a delight. The Volunteer Staff as well as the Directors all join in helping those in our area that need our support and assistance. It is more than giving out food, clothing, and assistance with bills. It is the art of understanding and supporting our community members during difficult time. Our Director is developing a method of "individual Selection" when it comes to the food items. The Client will let us know what items "They do NOT need" allowing us to fill their baskets more appropriately, eleiminating foods they may not eat or want. saves money, time and prevents waste.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Each day I volunteer I see how greatful the client is to be recieving our donations. So many of them could not make it though the month if it were not for the local Food Bank.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

We are currently setting up the food shelves, placing a "white Board" listing the latest item. Allowing the client to tell us what they do not need. The Volunteers and the Directors have a good working relationship and any idea coming from either side is considered with the Client in mind.

CRRC is an aweome community organization. They offer support to those in need with food, untility or rent support, and many other things. The recreation center has activities for kids, teenagers and adults of all ages. CRRC offers free space for other non-profits to meet. The North Pole Village brings in thousands of people every year to celebrate the Christmas season. The CRRC is well managed with many volunteers and staff who truly care about the community.

I have been a member of the board of CRRC for over a year and have volunteered at the Food Pantry many times for special food distributions. I have had clients come up and hug my neck after loading the food in their run down car. One lady with five kids in the car almost did not have room for the food. The kids had to set on top of the food. The woman really looked in desparation. When we got the food loaded she came to me crying saying she did not know how she could feed her kids until she got the call to come to CRRC They were hungry she said as she hugged my neck and made me cry too. This is what CRRC is all about. Our staff are all very professional and always looking out for the needs of the community. I am proud to be a part of CRRC of Canyon Lake, Texas.

As board president I would only want to see all of our services upgraded as I believe the board members and staff are doing a great job. I would just do everything I can to see that we receive the grant funds we deserve from llocal corporations
