I spent four summers with the Crossmen and i have to say that they are one of the best organizations that i have had the pleasure of being a part of. I have put so much time and energy into marching with the corps and it has been probably the most profitably experience in my life. My time with the Crossmen is invaluable as are the relationships and lessons I've learned from both the staff and the administration.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the years that i have marched with the Crossmen.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do whatever possible to retain as many vets as possible.

simply put, caring. After being with Crossmen [aged out in 1984] some 20 and 7 years ago, I've been able to reconnect with fellow members and rekindle my friendships. Where else will you find something like this? We are FAMILY.

"As a member of this organization I have felt a sense of belonging. I made stronger friendships than I've made in my whole life. I learned more about myself during my time that summer than I have in any other organization I have ever been a part of. I have not and probably will not ever find a sense of family stronger than that which I found at the Crossmen. "

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Finding out how hard I can push myself as a person in general.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Want more people to join.

I was a marching member of this organization from the 2010 season. To say it was life changing is an understatement. I felt like I was welcomed into a family and I have never been closer to a group of people in my life. Half way through the season I broke my arm and had to leave but a week before finals I was allowed back in to perform. I don't know of any other group that would let in a member that late in the season and I pretty much owe my entire life to this group. The Crossmen have been and will always be World Class.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Everyday life. I can see how this group has changed me for the better in how I interact with people and how I approach new situations

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Hope that more veterans come back and stop leaving such a talented group for a "chance" at finals. We have the same chance as anyone and more talent than DCI can handle.

The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps is much more than simply a professional marching band touring around the country. We are a family, learning about ourselves, testing our limits. Every day, through discipline, we enhance our minds, bodies, and spirits. I will never forget the time and experiences I have had, and continue to have with them.

The Crossmen provided me with the experience and knowledge of music that I could not find in any other musical experience. Being a member of the Crossmen helped me discover my passion for music and teaching, which opened a new world of career opportunities that I would not have found had I not spent a summer with them. Now that I am teaching in this organization, I hope to share the same legacy of The Crossmen with new members, teach them what I now know as a musician, and help them apply that knowledge to their everyday lives.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

being a member and learning from the wonderful staff they continue to find to teach the organization.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

lower registration and audition fees in hopes of attracting more proficient auditionees, especially those who reside in Texas and who might consider auditioning for other corps in the Texas area. I would also maintain a solid foundation of consistent staff who enjoy teaching for the benefit of the members and their ability to improve as musicians and citizens of society.

Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps is an organization that shows people the true meaning of selflessness. You all get together for one goal, one common experience. Crossmen shows all different facets of chances for emotional growth. Responsibility, maturity, and character is what the Crossmen stands for, and it's what it provides for every member who joins. The strength of the alumni is vital for the growth of the corps, and as we all now, money is tight. However, it's something worth investing in. Being asked to describe details or specific events doesn't do this experience justice. There are high times and low times, periods of extreme happiness and devastating blows. In the three months that this organization grows during their time on tour, it surpasses any imaginable description that any one person can offer. It's something that shouldn't be looked over or tossed away. The Crossmen deserve the chance to grow stronger every season and be provided with amazing educational and networking opportunities, just like any other activity.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I personally learned more than just 11 minutes of music; I learned who I am as a person and what I am capable of. I wouldn't be where I am today with out this experience.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Start more programs to raise money for members who can't afford to pay their tuition fees.
