CEE changed my life and the way I deliver economic knowledge to my students. My students appreciate the lessons, the examples and "no boring way of learning". Mexico hasn't started a financial and economic literacy program. So the everybody appreciates knowldge in this subject.
CEE work is
very inspiring and if Latinamerican countries can include or adopt their standards, i bet we can leave in a different contient. Thanks CEE.

National Council for Economic Education, now known as Council for Economic Education (CEE)has played a very significant role in my career as an economics teacher.
I was hired to introduce Economics and AP Economics curriculum in my school district several years ago. I was unsure and keen to
seek professional guidance in a discreet manner. I got what I sought and more in this non profit organization. I did not realize its significance at that time, but now as years have elapsed I confess that, all that I received...in content area, teaching strategies, model lesson plans, classroom resources, online materials etc. had immense practical value and helped to shape me into a successful educator.
I was also fortunate to be included in a Writer's workshop conducted by this organization in Romania in 2004. This venue brought educators from emerging market economies to compile hands-on economics lessons. The experience changed my perspective on the need for economic education for all students across the globe. Success of globalization depends on the recognition and understanding of the economic concepts by future citizens of the world. This is the aim of CEE as well.
Since the start of my program, our school district has extended study of economic concepts to primary and middle school grades. Students cannot graduate from high school without credits in Economics, enrollment in my AP economics program is up, students have won awards for essay writing competitions at the Federal Reserve, Charles Schwab Foundation for Financial Literacy and particiapted in the Quiz competition organized by Ohio Council for Economic Education. In other words, CEE has been an inspiration and guide by my side in helping me succeed as an economics teacher.

I am a high school Economics teacher as well as an instructor at the FAU Center for Econ. Educ. at the Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. In addition I am a member of G.A.T.E. and a past winner of the National H.S. Economics teacher of the year award. I'm a graduate of the CEE's Training of Writer's program and have contributed in the writing of the CEE's latest publication on Teaching Financial Crises. I have presented workshops at CEE National Conventions and have been a faithful subscriber to the quality classroom materials generated by CEE authors. It is immeasurable how much my relationship with CEE has enhanced my ability to offer high quality instruction in Economics to thousands of students.

I am a new President in the CEE family. My council is located in Jackson, MS. In the short time I have been employed in this position I have been impressed with the help and funding opportunities offered by CEE. I had the opportunity to submit four grant proposals. I will be attending their national conference in October and they have made arrangements to orient all new council and center directors. This will go a long way in helping us become as productive in our states as possible.

Before serving the state council as President, I used CEE products in the classroom as a teacher. They are wonderful, hands on, current curriculums that were successful in the classroom. The students enjoyed them.

I have been the Program Coordinator for the Center for Economic Education at George Mason University for 18 years. In that time, I have have been in contact with the CEE/NCEE/Joint Council through mail and e-mail at least monthly. I have used their pubilcations and on-line resources in hundreds of workshops, conference sessions, and graduate classes. I have applied for and received dozens of grants for workshop funding and materials. In all contacts, the CEE has been professional and helpful. I continue to use CEE resources including EconEdLink, Virtual Economics on CD Rom, and Gen I Revolution in nearly all my contacts with Northern Virginia teachers. Almost without exception, the materials--in all formats--are superior to any alternative. They are well-designed, accurate, grade level appropriate, and creative. There is no other organization in the country providing teachers with the range and quality of materials and support for the teaching of economics and personal finance.

The economics and personal finance materials developed by the CEE address the critical concepts for K-12 classrooms and are very teacher friendly. The first version of the Virtual Economics was a huge innovation when it made thousands of lessons available in a convenient and affordable format. The most recent version not only had new materials, but allowed teachers to search for lessons using the social studies standards from their individual states. The CEE is an incredible advocate for teachers!

Most people come into an economics class thinking (1) it's going to be boring (2) they won't understand it and (3) it has no relevance to their daily lives. The resources available from the CEE, with their emphasis on active learning, make economics a fun class to teach and a fun class to take. Students remember and apply the concepts because they learn at a gut level instead of memorizing rules and facts.

My teaching evaluations have gotten better every year, and I won an Excellence in Teaching award three times and am a finalist every year. Students tell me how much they learned and that they usewhat they learned.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give it more funding so it could expand geographically and provide materials to teachers at a lower cost.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

It's so easy to use their lessons in your classes. Everything is tested in real classes before it is made available, so they've seen everything that could happen and have contingencies already spelled out.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

exceptionally helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

create more resources for teachers, advertise so that more teachers would know it exists, make it less costly for teachers to obtain its materials, provide materials and training for free.

Ways to make it better...

I didn't have to choose between resources because my organization can't afford everything I would like to have.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding

One thing I'd also say is that...

CEE manages its funding well. It doesn't hamstring people with overbearing restrictions, but it is still good steward- people are held accountable. OK, two things. They are so creative! I would never think of these things!

What is now the Council for Economic Education was founded in 1949 with the backdrop of the Great Depression, World Wat II, and the Cold War. Ever since the focus has been on helping teachers teach economics in the schools of America, providing them with professional learning opportunities, materials appropriate to the classes they are teaching, and a variety of special programs designed to help make economics an exciting subject to study.
