I am in my late 20's and I have never danced before in my life. The first day I walked into CDT I remember thinking "What am I getting myself into?" As soon as the class started I was refreshed and amazed at how the instrutors made every student feel special regardless of skill level. The environment is non-intimidating and the instructors even gave me alternate steps and additional tips so I could reach MY potential. I have grown so much in dance and in confidence by going to classes at CDT. I recommend the studio to dancers of all ages and abilities :0)
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have become a more skilled and more confident dancer.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
work on PR more. CDT has a lot to offer but the word is not out there about the organization. I would also add more classes. Most of the classes are Modern and it would be nice to have more sections of Hip Hop. Also add private lessons.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the knowledge, acceptance, and encouragement from the dance instructors.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Very kind and helpful. It is also evident that they love dance and believe in the studio 100%.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
1. Fix up the facilities a little, it's an older building so 10 millions bucks could help restore the building. 2. Sponsor people across the city so those with financial troubles can still share their love of dance.
Ways to make it better...
the salsa class was more progressive. Every time a new person came we went back to the begining. I didn't progress as well as I expected. It would also be beneficial to hire men to come to salsa, it's hard to do without a partner.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the facilities. A lot of people are fooled by "newer" buildings and are willing to pay more money for shinnier buildings. Another challenge is the fact it's in Cincinnati, which is not a huge "dance" city.
One thing I'd also say is that...
people should try CDT. It's a good experience regardless of "how good you are." :0)
