As a Community Partner, Donor/Sponsor, and prior Board Member, I commend the CSL staff and Board of Directors for aggressively meeting the needs of the Eastern Jackson County communities. Their services such as utility assistance, job readiness, housing, clothing and food bank, weatherization information and budgeting classes, being available to individuals and households has been critical throughout the years. Our company is very proud to be a partner with CSL in helping families become self-sufficient.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

working to get a senior adult's gas service restored. The client did not live in CSL's service area; however, the staff person was passionate about making sure that the client had heat in their home. I was very impressed that she handled it to completion.

As an organization with a history spanning nearly 100 years of service in Jackson County, Community Services League has never faltered from its efforts to help families overcome economic crisis and return them to self-sufficiency. Community Services League serves over 19,000 families each year with food, housing, clothing, utility assistance, school supplies, Christmas programs, and employment services.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Witnessing families that received assistance return to let us know that they are back on their feet and grateful for the help they received and how they were treated with respect and dignity throughout the process.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Provide a lot more funds so that every family would receive help.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The sincere compassion and understanding that families receive when they seek assistance.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated to serving their community members and making a difference in the lives of their neighbors.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

It could expand hours to be more accessible to the growing number of working poor families, increase employment assistance programs, open more locations, and provide help for all those needing assistance.

Ways to make it better...

Always the need is for funds. Unfortunately, there are families we are not able to help because of a lack of available funds.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

During hard economic times, the demand escalates, but frequently donations drop.

One thing I'd also say is that...

If you want your donation used effectively and efficiently to provide help to the poor and low income, this is the agency that will do. With only 12 staff and hundreds of volunteers every dollar makes a big difference.

Community Services League is an extremely lean, well-run organization. It provides an array of essential services to a population in need of them now more than ever. Many volunteers support the agency, providing value services that equate to significant in-kind support, and the board of directors and capital campaign cabinet are engaged.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Witnessing its benefits to those who live in my community.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Capable and committed.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Meet so many more people's needs than it does now. The community's needs far outstrip available resources.
