I was engaged on a 3-month project as interim controller and had the opportunity to know the Senior Management Team and worked closely with each member. My role was to observe and recommend the best practices to meet the expanding needs of CHP. Its noble mission is reaping rewards and recognitions. The Executive Team is sincere and loyal to CHP's mission of providing decent affordable housing to former homeless in San Francisco

I will not forget and will be supportive.

San Francisco has a huge number of non-profits, most of which I'm sure are helpful. I can honestly say that the Community Housing Partnership has touched me & my my daughter through it's work with our closest friends & neighbors. My daughter was in the 2009 Talent show with 5 classmates/clients. This year my daughters best friend from school (since kindergarten) was in the Talent Show and their group took 1st place! Another friend and her 2 year old daughter have a safe place to live thanks to the Community Housing Partnership. Whatever it is they are doing is working. I have another neighbor interning, training to go to work! Keep it up!

Community Housing Partnership makes a tremendous difference in the lives of the residents it serves. Their housing and services make it possible for people to move beyond homelessness and gain jobs and hope. I have interacted with CHP tenants and have been inspired by their personal tales of overcoming challenges in their lives, and the stability and *dignity* that they have gained through living in CHP buildings and participating in their programs.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Working on political causes with CHP tenants.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

They should be getting their name out nationally so more people are aware of their good work.

At its core, Community Housing Partnership is a community-based organization that provides permanently affordable housing and essential support services for some of the most disadvantaged single adults and families living in San Francisco. I have worked with CHP staff over the past five years, and I am always impressed by their hard work, thoughtfulness and dedication to serving formerly homeless men, women and children in their portfolio of supportive housing properties.

I've watched Community Housing Partnership grow over the years, opening new buildings and providing homes for more and more needy San Franciscans. I've been a donor to CHP for many years, and I increasingly feel that my money each year is supporting an agency that really knows what they're doing, is very good at creating innovative solutions, and that is really making a difference in the crisis of homelessness in this city.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how many people they've successfully moved off the streets -- they're really making a difference in the crisis of homelessness in the city.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

expand their scope beyond San Francisco -- their model is so successful, it would definitely be good to replicate it in other communities around the Bay Area.

I have been impressed with how Community Housing Partnership involves the surrounding neighbors in their projects. I live near a project and was skeptical of them taking our input and incorporating it into their project; however, now that the building is open it has become a welcome addition to our neighborhood.

I have been a faithful donor to Community Housing Partnership for the past several years. Their ability to address the problem of homelessness by engaging people on a personal level is second to none. The organization has also demonstrated the ability to build strong relationships in the neighborhoods where they build housing. I've felt my investment in this organization has been rewarded far more than I expected.

Community Housing Partnership is an amazing organization that reaches people who might otherwise have no options for housing or support. Community Housing Partnership combines the tangible aspect of housing with the less tangible aspect of tenant services and support, melding the two to create an organization unlike any other!

I worked for CHP for 14 years, and had the unique pleasure of helping to grow the organization from an idea into a reality. I will never forget the night we bought our first building for housing - a friend and I spent the night hugging the building and rejoicing that we were now real estate holders! CHP has been real in its attempts to credate and maintain safe, permanent and affordable housing in a very expensive city, and to integrate supportive services and employment oppotunities into the housing. This has resulted in many low-income, homeless people being able to end their personal homelessness and poverty for long periods of time or forever! CHP treats homeless people and its tenants with extraordinary respect and in turn tenants have taken great pride in preserving the housing and also working as staff or helping to build the housing. CHP is a true community devlopment corporation who truly prioritizes the well-being of low-income individuals in the San Francisco area. In order to represent this well-being CHP includes tenants and homeless people in every aspect of the organization, including on the Board of Directors. I love the CHP and will forever be honored to have been a part of its wonderful history!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing individuals obtain stable housing, end personal homelessness, stay in housing for over 10 years, obtain employment earning a living wage with insurance benefits, become management personnel in the organization, become an active participant in the San Francsico community, reunite with current families and create new families.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

try to expand the model to other cities and states. It is effective, affordable and is very supportive of individuals who are trying to end his/her personal homelessness.
