I first was introduced to CHAMPS several years ago as a client participant. I felt that the CHAMPS health fair event was an excellent approach of targeting men with the opportunity to get health check-ups for free. Because I am a personal advocate for men's health, I decided to become a part of the planning committee a couple of years ago. I have also gotten my fraternity involved as volunteers and it has become an event that we all look forward to participating. The committee is great and well organized and their hard work is reflected in the annual success of this event. This is a great service to the citizens of Atlanta and I hope it continues for years to come.

The Great!

There has been many positive testamonies of people going to see a health professional for the first time in years as a result of the CHAMPS health fair. This event is prevention, intervention and a potential life saving experience.

Last year was my first time volunteering for CHAMPS and it was a great and exciting event. I appreciate what this is doing for the community in continuous care of african american men. It is very important that these type of events are done on a regular basis. I had a great time volunteering and I look forward to this upcoming event again in September. I had a blast.

By working as a volunteer, I really enjoyed the staff and others that I worked with on last year. I enjoyed it so much, I would have wanted to work for them and their clinic as a medical assistant. Very good teamwork involvement.

Last September was my first time volunteering with CHAMPS. It was a great experience and I was very impress by the sheer turn out of volunteers and clients. That spoke volumes to me. I look forward to volunteering again this year in September because I feel that this experience is worthy of my time.

CHAMPS is a wonderful organization!!! As a volunteer I got the chance to interact with a large number of people and most importantly I was able to help them take care of their healthcare needs. This organization is a great contributor to this community that is in desperate need of healthcare services. I very much enjoyed volunteering and will continue to do so at future events.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

giving my time to volunteer and seeing how happy the people that attended were after they had received all their screenings and received all this information.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

recruit more volunteers in order to assist in making the event flow faster and more smoothly. Also, more advertising so we can exceed our previous amount of participants, which was 600!!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

interacting with all the new and interesting people I met.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

doctors, nurses, greek life, various participants

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

be a HUGE success! We would have the funding to be able to advertise a lot in order to reach out to more people and ultimately help them prevent disease and educate them about health lifestyles. We could have the opportunity to help save more lives.

Ways to make it better...

we had more volunteers to switch shifts with.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the funding in order to continue to make the event not only possible, but a huge success.

One thing I'd also say is that...

this event is a great asset to helping our community and is soo important that it continue to be held annually.

What a great Summit! Last year was my first time participating as a volunteer. I have 6 yrs experience working as a Microbiology Medical Tech but I currently am a public health professional. I was able to put both skills to use at the Summit. As I performed certifuges of blood samples and the nearby HIV testing line extended past my centrifuge station, I found myself talking with men who were waiting in line about why it was so important to get HIV tested. Some wanted to leave the summit and not wait any longer in the line to get tested but I convinced some that knowing your status was worth the wait...and you know what? They agreed and decided to stay in line to get tested. I can't wait to volunteer again this year!
