CAPS has some incredibly dedicated staff and volunteers who are truly passionate about loving each woman who walks in their doors. Every nurse and counselor I volunteer with is genuine in their commitment to the mission and I have learned so much from them about how to love our clients well. As a nurse myself it is so refreshing to have all the time we need with our clients and not feel rushed. I am able to spend as much time as the client wants and give her the education and help she needs.

I'm so excited to be a part of this organization and to see it growing. What could be more important than loving on and helping young girls during this crazy and unexpected time in their lives. CAPS inspires me to reach out.

I was concerned about the struggle we, as women, go through when faced with pregnancy unplanned. What am I going to do? How can I support this child? What are others going to think of me? How can I get out of this mess? Who can I talk to without the whole world knowing my business? Where can I go for help? Why is this happening to me? When am I going to learn?
I found a great place to learn, and be formally trained, to help other women answer all of these questions and make well informed, confident decisions about their individual situations- College Area Pregnancy Services, (CAPS).
CAPS strives to re-enforce women in all phases of their lives, from Spiritual to education and employment choices, love and marriage, family development, and especially in their time of need during pregnancy.
And, for women who are looking forward to pregnancy and need a positive affirmation and some resources to help, CAPS is a welcoming place to visit.
CAPS offer free counseling, pregnancy test/verification, ultra sound and photos, and many support services, and material aid.

I am currently in the training process to become a volunteer peer counselor with CAPS. I was amazed at the thoroughness of the 8-week classroom training and even more amazed at how much I learned about myself during that time. The training is meant to teach the basics of being a good counselor - and it definitely does that - but it also lead to a lot of growth in my relationships both to God and to other people.

It has been a blessing to see the dedication of the staff members and the volunteers to the cause of helping women through unplanned pregnancies, to each other, and to Christ. I am looking forward to being part of this organization in whatever capacity I can for as long as I can. CAPS is a blessing to the San Diego community and the Lord is using this organization for much good.

I recently volunteered my time at CAPS while completing my nursing clinicals for my bachelors program. Everyone on the staff was friendly, welcoming, kind-hearted, enthusiastic, and very professional. I have never worked with such an amazing group of dedicated volunteers who care so much about their community and their mission.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The joy on the faces of the women and their family members when seeing their growing babies in their bellies. CAPS provides this amazing experience to all of their clients free of charge.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The only change I would make would be to keep the clinic open for longer hours so that even more women in the community can benefit from their services.

I have been volunteering as a nurse at CAPS for over a year, and I am humbled and blessed to be part of an organization that lovingly serves young women who find themselves in a vulnerable and difficult situation.
CAPS ministers these women with compassion, kindness, and respect.
This
organization provides free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and counseling. The goal is to help these women choose life and carry their pregnancies to term. CAPS provides resources and encouragement during their pregnancies with follow-up care and counseling after they give birth.
CAPS is a wonderful organization to be a part of!

I have been a volunteer at CAPS for a number of years and know that it is a very worthy, non-profit organization. The quality and diversity of services offered is impressive. Some of these are:
-pregnancy tests,
-counseling,
-education
-sonograms,
-help with material
resources such as maternity and baby clothes.

Depending on the need, there are referrals for doctors, social agencies, housing etc. All this and a genuine concern for every client is at absolutely no cost to the client. Clinics at both locations are funded entirely by donations and I count it a privilege to serve here.

seeing women express appreciation for the caring attitude and support of our director and the rest of the staff as they wrestle with life changing decisions

I can't think of anything that our director and staff are not doing to raise money, train counselors and advertise etc.

I first became aware of CAPS through an informational donor dinner we were asked to attend by some friends. Skeptical of what services were actually provided, my husband and I decided to check into it further before donating our rather small discetionary funds. We were so pleased to learn that CAPS cares about all the women who step through the doors and provides an astonishing amount of services to meet many needs of these women from providing pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, pre-natal vitamins, referrals to county services that will help them (from Medical to in-home nursing care), even baby clothes for those needing it-all free! Most importantly, the counselors provide information in a loving and caring way so each client understands all her options so she can make an informed decision about this extremely difficult situation she finds herself in. From counseling about STD's to pre-natal development to post abortion care, CAPS truly cares about each woman and her situation. Not only have we become a monetary donor, I've since become a lay counselor and would recommend any woman to seek help here.

I have volunteered as the medical director at CAPS for seven years. I have the responsibiity of making sure thah our medical license is in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and that our medicial services are top notch. We offer pregnancy tests and high quaitity diagnostic ultrasounds to our clients. The effect on the mother when she sees her baby's heart beating on the big screen is a joy to behold. I haved worked closely with the staff, the Board members and many of the volunteer clilent advocates over this time and I have been extremely impressed with the whole team's vibrant faith in God and commitment to helping young women who have unexpected pregnancies or who have suffered the profound ill effects of previous abortion. I recommend CAPS very highly!
