I live very near the gardens. When we have company, it is a definite stop on our list of to do's. Each year and each season there is something new to discover. My grandchildren love the new children's garden, and especially lunch in the cafe, which has always been outstanding. I love the peace and solitude when I visit and wander on my own. When I retire, I am going to volunteer. There is nothing negative I can say. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. I am very proud to have this beauty in my town.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching it grow each year. There is so much they have to offer the community and our summer visitors.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

keep it growing.

Maine Coastal Botanical Garden is a jewel for all. I am very fortunate that I live close enough to make the drive there from southern Miane multiple times a year. It's fascinating to see the contrasts by season in the flower and vegatable gardens. Each visit is memorable. In addition to the helpful staff, there is a wonderful cafeteria seving delicious fare at reasonable prices, and the new children's garden is delightful as well as educational. I'm impressed with all that's been done and the ongoing creations at MCBG.

I would rely on the folks who have done the job thus far to continue the superb work that they are already dedicated to and successful at.

Lynn (a very knowledgeable gardener) and I (an amateur photographer specializing in flowers) had an extremely pleasant visit to the gardens. At the time, it was still a work in progress, but both the completed area and in progress sections showed great design in a difficult setting. We plan to return this year.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Very good communications, superb website.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very friendly, helpful, and willing to refer me to someone with more knowledge if they could not personally answer my question.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Set up an endowment fund and build a small conservatory.

Ways to make it better...

I had waited until a little later in the season when more plants and flowers were in bloom.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding issues face all not-for-profits. Also, being in Maine they can be more vulnerable to winter weather, although coastal Maine tends to moderate the winters.

One thing I'd also say is that...

A gem.

We discovered the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens several years ago while it was still in the planning/construction phase. We were immediately intrigued by the wonderful waterfront setting with its woodland trails full of native plants. As we returned the following years, we were greeted with more changes, more progress toward the becoming the
