C.A.I.N. was the first volunteer program that I embarked upon as an adult. I was enticed to come there by a wonderful neighbor and fellow volunteer (who is still quite active with C.A.I.N.). The level of devotion and enthusiasm was nothing short of marvelous. I watched them grow from borrowed space in a church basement into the wonderful program they now present. I am still amazed at all of the opportunities they afford the working poor with such limited funds. C.A.I.N. makes me smile.

After working with C.A.I.N. for several wonderful years while I lived in Cincinnati, I moved my family to San Diego, California. Mimi Chamberlain, the director, has kept me in the loop and a part of the C.A.I.N. family like I had never left. Their email messages and brilliant web campaigns to garner the support and supplies they need to care for their needy is always interesting, intriguing and gets me thinking of what I can do to help from so far away! On an extended visit to Cincinnati to spend time with family, I was welcomed back into the fold and quickly was back in action as a volunteer. It takes a very special kind of group to emit that kind of warmth and family-like feeling while facing all of the obstacles that they face each year. And ALWAYS with a quiet, graceful smile! I brag about C.A.I.N. to all of my fellow volunteers out here on the left coast. It is quite a program! Cyndi Craig

CAIN is such a great place. People who need services are treated personally and warmly. They are guests not clients. Hospitality is an important aspect of CAIN. I love working there.

As a recent summer intern, CAIN provided me with a more rewarding experience than I could have imagined. CAIN not only helps the Northside community by providing groceries and hygiene supplies to those in need, but also establishes a welcoming atmosphere that becomes a sanctuary for volunteers and guests alike. I, like many others, found a home within the CAIN community that allowed me to broaden my perspectives, meet new people of all backgrounds, and contribute to the betterment of the surrounding community. CAIN is such a vital nonprofit organization because it provides the necessities that struggling families need, yet goes above and beyond through developing an entire support system in which volunteers and staff members truly listen to the families and do their best to provide all the help they can.

The CAIN pantry is a vital local resource. Without CAIN, many local families would struggle to feed their children.

One word that describes CAIN is "Hope", because that is what the organization tries to provide to people in the Northside community in Cincinnati, OH. CAIN puts forth their best effort to create a loving atmosphere where people feel at home. It is a not only a second home to guests but to volunteers. CAIN doesn't stop at providing free groceries and hygiene items to families, but they strive to educate on healthy eating habits which is beneficial in the long-run. Thank You CAIN!

I have been associated with CAIN for several years as a board member. CAIN is an amazing organization that does many great things for the Northside community. The staff and volunteers do an extraordinary job making every guest feel both welcome and appreciated. It is truly an honor to be able to serve with such a great group of people.

I have been volunteering at CAIN every Tuesday for three years. Each time I step through their doors, I am gratified to realize that such a place exists...where volunteers, both young and old, from all walks of life, are willing to give of their time or lend an ear to others who have fallen on hard times. There's a satisfaction and joy in knowing that in some small way we do make a difference. It's the right thing to do.

I volunteer at CAIN every week and have seen firsthand what this organization means to folks in need. Some we see every month, some just come once or twice and we don't see them again. But the important thing is that CAIN is there for them and they can count on a place to go for not only food and household provisions, but an ear to listen and understanding hearts ready to do whatever is needed to make their lives a little easier.

I often take items to CAIN for donation. Not only are they helpful and friendly to me but it is clear how all of the customers feel as well. It seems to be a place to get help along with love and respect.

I live in the neighborhood that CAIN serves and support CAIN's work with gifts as I am able. I am consistently impressed with the creativity and integrity with which CAIN serves my neighbors who are struggling to meet basic needs. I notice that the people being served by CAIN are treated with respect and dignity and that CAIN events like the Friday night summer cookouts often provide an important meeting place for neighbors who come from very different class backgrounds and might not otherwise have a chance to get to know each other. I have no doubt that CAIN makes my Northside neighborhood a better place for everyone who lives here!

I have been a volunteer with CAIN over 15 years, contributing to the Christmas Secret Angels, or working in the food pantry, and recently serving on the Board of Directors. As a community "member-at-large" I have requested donations at Community Council meetings and consistently received with very generous donations and people volunteering. CAIN is immensely respected in our neighborhood, as an organization that contributes to the well-being of the entire neighborhood, not only the guests who utilize the pantry. CAIN is known as the organization in our diverse community where neighbors can directly assist and impact the wellfare of people living right here. The accomplishment this year, of CAIN organizing the use of EBT cards at the Northside Farmer's Market, supports the market overall and the farmers who bring produce to sell locally. These same vendors generously donate produce at the end of the market time, to CAIN, for the following morning at the pantry. Annually CAIN organizes a very popular neighborhood-wide garage sale, providing a map guiding shoppers to all homes/locations participating. CAIN's active presence in Northside directly connects neighbors with neighbors who might otherwise remain strangers , due to cultural or socioeconomic differences. CAIN builds community!
