Mission: Patients with chronic or life-altering diseases (such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, or multiple sclerosis) must fight both their illness and the financial burden it places on their family as they struggle to pay for their medications. It is estimated that over 35% of these patients have insurance but still cannot afford the co-payments for the specialty therapeutics they need to treat or control their disease, which can range from $300 to over $3000 per month for a single dose. These underinsured patients are not eligible for most free drug or patient assistance programs, leaving them with few alternatives. They may be forced to do without their medications or go into debt to obtain them, greatly affecting their health and quality of life. Our mission is to improve the health and quality of life of underinsured patients with chronic disease, cancer, or other life-altering conditions who cannot afford the medications they so desperately need.

In 2012 I was diagnosed with Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). I could not read or see things without distortion. I began treatments with a Retinal Specialist for shots in the eyes of Lucentus. Without the shots I would eventually go blind. I would not be able to afford the treatments without the aid of CDF. I would not be typing this now if it were not for their help and all their supporters.

I am so happy to see the Chronic Disease Fund listed on Charity Navigator. In 2008 after my husband had been diagnosed with leukemia, his doctor prescribed revlimid which was going to cost us $3,700 a month. Although he was covered by Medicare, our supplemental insurance company considered it a specialty drug and said we would be responsible for most of the cost of the drug. His doctor requested help from the maker of the drug, but they determined our family income was too high and wouldn't help us, so he put us in touch with the Chronic Disease Fund, and after sending them the information they requested and one follow-up phone call, he received the drug quickly and at a cost of only $75 a month which we thought was reasonable. I think it is a wonderful organization.

Chronic Disease Fund helped my husband with the treatment Provenage he is a stage 4 Cancer patient. Loving him so much I want whatever it takes to get help and he does have insurance but the treatment is still expensive. They asked for some information and it was approved in no time ,for the latest cancer treatment. The stress involved all around is quite overwhelming ,I'm so thankful for their help . Thank you Chronic Disease Fund for making it flow smoothly. Marlene
