Christian Community Action Inc. is a remarkable organization dedicated to the plight of homeless families in New Haven. Its mission is not only to provide shelter, food and counseling services designed to ease the pain of what homeless families have lost but also to inspire and help them find affordable housing and, most important, to develop their skills so they can find stable employment. I’ve been a volunteer at CCA for 4 years and have nothing but praise for the dedication of the director, Rev. Bonita Grubbs, and her wonderful staff.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I worked at CCA's main office at 168 Davenport Avenue and was able to witness first hand the hard work and dedication of Rev. Grubbs and her amazing staff.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would encourage others to support the work of CCA so they could continue providing for the existing clientele as well as the many others for whom help is also needed.

I've been involved with Christian Community Action since 2002 and I have been inspired and impressed by the amount of work they do and how those that they help do move on and grow from help with this agency. It gives me a lot of hope when I see the efforts of everyone involved and everyone deserves all the credit in the world for their efforts.

Reading about the case studies in the newsletter that focus on an indivdual's struggle and journey to a better life be it secure housing or a better paying job. I love the human interest articles as they really show how much people can benefit from CCA's services.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give them more money. They need an army to do what they do and they all work so hard.

Christian Community Action feeds and houses those in need in the New Haven area with great joy and honor. Their clients are treated with love and respect. They also take significant steps to break the chain of poverty through the Stepping Stone program that works with families to help them transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Donating food, clothing and furniture for a number of years and watching the way folks are treated inside their doors.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find them a stable permanent source of funds to expand their outreach and be able to serve more clients.
