Mission: Founded in 1987, SingersMarin provides excellent music services to Marin County, California. We fill a need for music education of our youth, since California public schools have cut a disproportionate amount of music education from all public schools. SingersMarin offers the choral experience to approximately 100 youth and 80 adults each year, gives back to the community through concerts performed for the elderly and ill and offers special performances to centers for children with special needs, as well as provides the general public with accessible, high quality choral music. "Appreciating that music is the language of the soul, through our singing we will nurture people of all ages as we touch the heart with beauty and uplift the spirit with song."
Programs: SingersMarin includes seven different singing groups, separated by age and skill level: Caroling Kids, Starlights, Comets, Celestial Voices, les etoiles, Wings of Song, A Joyful Sound!. Wings of Song is an all female chorus that sings a mixed repertoire of traditional and contemporary music. Les etoiles is an award winning all female teen chorus. The 6-8 year old children participate in a non-audition chorus called Caroling Kids in the fall and Twinkling Stars in the spring. The 9 - 12 year olds have the choice of auditioning for our select chorus, Celestial Voices, or joining the non-audition chorus for their age group, Starlights. A Joyful Sound! performs music a wide variety of music and encourages family participation, and in response to recent events, focuses on promoting world harmony. Holiday Singers is a men's choral group that operates seasonally, joining Wings of Song for our Holiday Concerts. All of our choruses perform for those in need in our community: the elderly, special needs children and patients who are confined.

SingersMarin is a outstanding choral organization that has bringing the gift of music to youth and adults for over 30 years in a disciplined and challenging, yet fun and enjoyable manner. I highly reccommend this organization to anyone interested in exploring and developing their musical voice.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My wife suggested I try-out for SingersMarin. I pleasantly found that I had a voice, and with the encouragement and direction of the SingersMarin Artistic Director, Jan Pederson-Schiff, I have developed musically. I have grown personally by being challenged in a rigorous and disciplined musical environment, and enjoy the reward that creating music provides. The gift that SingersMarin bring to both me as the singer, and to the listening audience, is immensely fufilling.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Encourage more persons to try-out.

This group has been providing wonderful music in Marin County since 1987. There are both adult and youth groups, and in addition to providing great musical training and a wonderful sense of camaraderie to the singers, the groups perform over 40 concerts each year for the elderly of the county. Jan Pedersen-Schiff, the Artistic Director and Founder, is a gifted singer and conductor and has trained a generation of singers (young and old). There are groups for all ages from about 5 up to adults. I also sing with the adult women's group and can say that it is one of the friendliest, most welcoming groups of people I have ever had the pleasure to sing with.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Growth in my own musical abilities, gained friends and colleagues, seen the way that music can awaken and reinvigorate the elderly.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Help it gain more members and more awareness in the community.
