Following the terrible oil spill in the Gulf I felt an obligation to try to mitigate the effects of this ecological disaster with my humble contributions, however tiny in comparison they may be. So I set out to focus my efforts on a local organization and found this small but dedicated group- the Choctawhatachee Coastal Conservancy. Meanwhile, I have experienced first hand the devotion of this group toward saving our coastal treasures. The Coastal Conservancy's invaluable work in wildlife rehabilitation and ecological conservation is an integral part of a long term strategy for preserving our coastal ecosystems in all of their natural beauty and biodiversity.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
my volunteer efforts for the Gulf Coast and all its threatened wildlife at the coastal conservancy ecological preserve.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
increase its budget through a wide spread volunteer and donation campaign in order to extend its radius of action and facilitate its valuable work in coastal preservation, wildlife rehabilitation and ecological conservation.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
being able to contribute to a cause helping with what is most precious to me - the life and health of our beautiful Gulf Coast.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
educated, professional and great human beings.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
make an enormous difference for our beautiful coastal areas.
Ways to make it better...
if we could have helped all the threatened animals and preserve even more coastal lands.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
not enough of funding to do all that needs to be done.
One thing I'd also say is that...
the Choctahatchee Coastal Conservancy is far more deserving of support than many other organizations which spend a large part of their budget on fancy ad campaigns instead of actually helping on a local level.
