China Care Foundation has a clear mission to help disabled Chinese orphans receive life-saving surgeries. One of my best friend's, Alice Chen, inspired me to get involved with China Care. After volunteering in one of the China Care children's homes, she began her freshman year at NYU. We were roommates that year. Together, with three others, we founded the NYU China Care club, a university club dedicated to raising funds and love for the children of China Care Foundation. Being involved with the organization has given me a new perspective on what it means to care for others. Through raising funds for dozens of disabled children, I have had the opportunity to touch the lives of so many. For this, I am truly blessed.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

helping disabled orphans. I have seen the children first-hand and am proud that I did a great deal in raising funds to make the lives of the children so much better.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

partner with media partners and advertising agencies to create a pro bono advertising strategy and get the word out to a larger scale audience.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the opportunity to lead others at NYU as a co-founder and President of the NYU China Care club. Our team has worked together with clubs acorss NYU to raise hope and funds for children in China. We have seen them be nursed to health. It's incredible.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated and passionate about helping children. I've met volunteers from other university China Care clubs, as well as full-time staff from Connecticut.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help a lot of disabled Chinese orphans receive life-saving surgeries. They would be able to also expand their operations in China to help more children, beyond their current capacity.

Ways to make it better...

I had the opportunity to create more content about China Care without having to be fully monitored at every step. For some reason, China Care likes to hang onto power. This could be improved.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

(1) power struggles. It seems that they change power too often and they are very protective of themselves, in a stand-off manner. (2) lack of conversation. Because they try to control every piece of information about China Care, conversation is limited.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I really enjoyed my time with China Care at NYU. I hope I can continue to be a part of the organization as I continue on after college.
