Childrens Art Village is an inspiring and well-structured organization from which my non-profit has learned a great deal. As a teaching artist, I have worked all over the globe with at-risk and orphaned youth, teaching filmmaking and acting. Mai's commitment to and execution of a sustainable programming model is like no other I have seen in this work. Children's Art Village not only empowers the children they work with, but also the entire volunteer body, staff, and surrounding village. The impact of their work has an unending ripple effect. Mai is both a business woman and a spiritual artist. She has laid a solid foundation, on which art, healing, and change may flourish.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Mai makes things work for everyone. With a sensitivity to many cultures and the needs of the children, she amazes me with her grounded, powerful, effective decision making.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Give children all over the world an access to express themselves through music and art!

I am a practicing pyschologist with a marriage family therapist (MFT) license. I have known the Director of the Children' Art Village, Mai Lai, since she finished her graduate studies in pyschology back in 2006. I am a mentor and sounding board to Mai. I have helped her to formulate ideas of to utilize art in various therapeutic processes. This in turn has been used with the programming by the Children's Art Village.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

that I have been a metor and sounding board to the Executive Director of this program ever since 2006. In addition, each year my husband and I donate to the Children's Art Village to fund their programs in Ghana.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the pictures and videos that I see after every summer program. More than that, I get an update from Mai at least once every quarter briefing me on the progress of the children as a whole and various different Creative Arts classes that are offered

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

delightful. Each of the volunteers that I've met from Los Angeles are enthusiastic about the program and the experience that they have had working with the Children's Art Village art camp in Ghana.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

employ an excellent staff of artists and art therapists to work as full-time staff at the Children's Art Village in the United States as well as in the various countries in which the organization is located.

I have known Mai Lai for over a year and became acquainted with her vision of service and extraordinary dedication to the Children’s Art Village. As an educator and healing practitioner I clearly see the Children’s Art Village as an effective motivational, inner healing, community building, and self-expanding organization for orphaned children. Such program has the uniqueness of applying the transformational power of art and community building as effective tools to heal the deep wounds of abuse and neglect.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Because the way the organization works and its excellent planning, the increase in funds can be easily applied to bring to new places the effectiveness of its program therefore helping more orphaned children and their communities.
