I first came across the Children's Art Village and Mai in 2008 when I was searching for a way to use my gifts and talents in art with orphaned children in Africa. After speaking to Mai and seeing the video from the first art and music camp in Ghana, I knew without a doubt that this was an incredible opportunity to get involved in and minister to the children in Ghana through the arts. My experience with the CAV was more amazing and inspiring than I could have possibly imagined! I absolutely loved the time I was able to spend with the children at the Village of Hope orphanage, and I imagine being involved each summer for the camp. My life has been forever changed by my time in Ghana and as an artist I desire to tell the children's stories through my portraits of them. Last summer, I had the privilege of meeting children from the Village of Life orphanage in Kete-Krachi and children from an orphanage in Tema who were all rescued from a life of slavery on Lake Volta and joined us for the camp. It was so exciting to see how the children absolutely came alive and truly shined as they created art, played music, and danced. Having the opportunity to express themselves creatively is healing, and it allows them to be kids again, free to be who God created them to be. They are able to grow as artists as well as discover new ways of expressing themselves. The CAV and Mai have encouraged and strengthened my passion for creating and teaching art to the orphan children in Ghana so much so that I will be teaching art at Hope Christian Academy in Ghana following the camp. I am truly thankful for the CAV and Mai's dedication to creating a sustainable art program for the children in Ghana as well as Vietnam, Cambodia, and India.

The mission of The Children's Art Village is made real in such a magical and sincere way. Mai Lai and all of her volunteers create a space for true expression and beauty to emerge in all children. It is such a special thing to be a part of. Mai's dedication to excellence and these children is so inspiring. The camps are extremely well organized, yet also allow for course corrective changes and spontaneity. I highly recommend getting invloved or supporting this nonprofit!

Childrens Art Village is truly dedicated to bringing artistic expression to children in need all over the world. After meeting and corresponding with the founder, I immediately made plans to travel with them to India. Not only does CAV bring art projects and teachers to orphanages, but they also leave the children with the supplies necessary to continue creating works of art long after the volunteers of CAV have left. I have seen first hand how these excursions come together, as well as witnessing the passion and commitment that drives this organization forward, developing its curriculum and reaching out to new locations around the globe. It's phenomenal and inspiring.

I have been a donor of the Children's Art Village since its inception. I admire the vision that the Children' Art Village has executed in Ghana through the sustainable program that is now in existence. I continue to marvel at the dynamic energy that has continued to push this vision forward. I am especially impressed with the Executive Director and her ability to motivate those around her to be of service.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the vision is about helping those children who most especially require attention. The Children's Art Village has given these children a vehicle to utilize in order to grow in the awareness of themselves.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

incredibly intelligent, enthusiastic, practical, and extremely down to earch. They all have bought into the vision of helping children through the expressive mediums of art and music.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

be an international powerhouse and be able to expand farther to help hundreds of thousands of children.

Have known founder and director for many years and supported numerous philanthropic efforts on her behalf. She is business savvy so donations dollars really go to the children she supports and not the administrative workings.

My experience with the Children's Art Village began in April of 2008 when I discovered the organization and what they were doing in Ghana. I volunteered for the August 2008 art camp and was pleasantly surprised at the extent of involvement the CAV had in supporting the arts education program for the the orphanage.

I have known Mai Lai for over a year and became acquainted with her vision of service and extraordinary dedication to the Children’s Art Village. As an educator and healing practitioner I clearly see the Children’s Art Village as an effective motivational, inner healing, community building, and self-expanding organization for orphaned children. Such program has the uniqueness of applying the transformational power of art and community building as effective tools to heal the deep wounds of abuse and neglect.

Because the way the organization works and its excellent planning, the increase in funds can be easily applied to bring to new places the effectiveness of its program therefore helping more orphaned children and their communities.

I was a volunteer in the first art camp in Ghana back in August 2007. I taught grades 1-3 in art. I had an incredible time. I loved getting to know the other teachers who traveled with me and I loved the children at the Village of Hope. The Children's Art Village did a very good job at organizing the trip as well as the summer camp. The children are beautiful and so ready to learn and create. I cherish my time spent as as volunteer at that art camp.
