I attended a family course with my ten year old son, but I am also an educational professional with much experience in program design and supervision. COTEF's programs are among the best I have ever witnessed or read of. Their programs align with their mission and educational goals from the ground up; having knowledge of their content I can see deep connections and foreshadowing of future, higher-level learning even in their beginning lessons. Their staff are extremely well trained, with skill in the content and teaching methodology, and much patience and positive reinforcement. For staff and volunteers this is obviously a labor of love. Add that to thorough skill and training and you have a brilliant program.

WHAT they teach at COTEF is unique and important. Their content offers authentic educational experiences that align with the natural sciences but go beyond that to provide students insight into self, society, nature. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

This is an amazing organization that is providing education that can be found no where else that I know of. I simply cannot wait for my children to be old enough to begin full participation as a family in their programming.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the teens who have gone through the programs and are now working for the organization as adults.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

expand the programs to the west coast so that the population in this geographic region is easier served.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the connection that is nurtured with the Earth.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very committed individuals who are living a vision.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

serve a population of children whose families cannot afford the programming currently.

Ways to make it better...

my child were old enough now to be able to participate fully in the programming.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

money, full-time employees, land resources to hold programs.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am inspired by the COTEF and will be more fully participating as my child matures and is old enough.

COTEF in my mind is one of the top organizations in the country connecting children to the earth. Their philosophy is both healing and dynamic, the instructors inspiring and students inspired. They offer a great palette of programs across the country. Several young men that I mentor have participated in their camps, and come back deeply enthused and awake. I highly recommend their programs to everyone.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

alive, inspired and skilled individuals

Excellent organization with a purpose that is so necessary in today's world. What could be a more noble, more important task than helping our youth better appreciate the world they live in? Their promotional video brought me to tears; I have nothing but the greatest respect for the magic they're creating with kids. Prayers and best wishes for continued success into the future!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the attitudes, awareness, and even the faces of the children who participate in their programs.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the sincere commitment and passion for this program that I see in all of its staff and supporters.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

diverse, expert, caring, kind and knowledgeable about what they were teaching.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

purchase a permanent location on which to hold their programs. They could also give out scholarships to each and every child interested in attending no matter what their financial situation.

Ways to make it better...

I could have attended for a longer period of time!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the current economy and the inability of people to afford their programs.

COTEF is a superb organization that provides a unique and vital curriculum to peopl of all ages from all walks of life. I once worked with COTEF on an event that connected over 300 kids from NYC public schools to nature in a fresh and exciting way in just one afternoon. Everyone associated with this organization is inspired and dedicated, and only good things can come from supporting them.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the changed lives of the children who attend their programs, and the care they exhibit for the Earth.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Continue working tirelessly to restore the connection of human beings to the Earth.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The generosity, sincerity and dedication of its staff.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Always helpful, friendly, passionate and highly skilled. Not only professional educators, but artists, role models, and mentors.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make an even more serious impact on the public consciousness and improve the chances of our species achieving a sustainable balance with the rest of life on this Earth.

Ways to make it better...

COTEF could have more programs, and a more sustained presence in the lives of children it reaches.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Communicating the unique and critcal value that its programming brings, and how it differs from traditional camp and outdoor activities.

One thing I'd also say is that...

COTEF is the least wasteful, most efficient, and most valuable non-profit organization I can imagine.

I took a teacher training with COTEF in California and came home with great energy, activities, and renewed passion for connecting myself, friends, family, and students with the Earth. At the training we sang and played and sat on the ground. Simple, profound, beautiful!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my life and energy as a environmental educator - as well as with the excitement and popularity of their teachings with kids.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

singing and playing games together, and learning more about the earth and myself in the process.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

unique, interesting/interested, engaged, energized, funny, compassionate, and soulful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

re-invest in itself and keep doing this amazing work.

Ways to make it better...

I didn't have to travel so far sign up for their programs or volunteer with them.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the internal distance so many adults have between themselves and the earth, and how much work and energy COTEF needs to use to narrow that distance in order to teach the children (who are starving for this kind of experience).

One thing I'd also say is that...
