The Chicago Freedom School is a space unlike any I've come in contact with. The work the young people of the various Chicago communities do are vital to social justice in this city. I've seen first hand transformations in the young people and adult allies alike.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I am always most impressed with the hard work every individual who is invovled, from the young people to the board members to the volunteers, give throughout the year.

The best part about CFS is how the organization is constantly striving to create more meaningful change and creating strong partnerships to further the work. All people invovled in this organization are constantly trying to come up with new ideas to keep things moving.

I started as a volunteer with the Chicago Freedom School and became a donor and board member because CFS is one of the few organizations where youth and adults can authentically collaborate for social change. Each time I walk into the Freedom School, youth and adults are engaged in dialogue--learning from one another, strengthening relationships, and gaining new skills. Young people keep coming back because their ideas are respected, and they have support to take action on those ideas.

Chicago Freedom School provides youth with the tools to create social change. It remains true to the legacy of the freedom schools founded during the civil rights movement. At the same time, it is committed to implementing evaluation standards to continually improve.

The Chicago Freedom School plays a crucial role in Chicago in supporting youth-led and intergenerational social change work. The Freedom School provides professional development trainings for youth workers, leadership opportunities for young people, and educational opportunities for anyone interested in positioning their work within an historical context of social justice efforts.

The Freedom School has supported the work of the Chicago Taskforce on Violence Against Girls & Young Women, which I co-founded; I also participate in the Chicago Alliance for Racial Equity, which provides space for white people to engage in anti-racist work.

The work that the Chicago Freedom School is doing is of extreme importance and urgency. Helping youth to develop the skills to become active and questioning members of society is a task that few are willing to do. The training sessions that CFS offers are trainings that I feel are integral to a more well rounded and ongoing education (in people of all ages). I hope that the Chicago Freedom School is able to thrive and expand, as it is a much needed organization; not only in Chicago, but really everywhere in this nation (and world).

The Freedom school provides incredible services to youth in Chicago. They're providing a base for movements of the future to thrive and grow. That, and they take really good care of the folks that work with them, ensuring everyone is well recognized and supported.
