When we found out our son was deaf, we received immediate and comprehensive support from staff at CID. Staff worked with us during every step of assessing his hearing loss, preparing for cochlear implant surgery, educating us as parents about hearing loss, and teaching our son how to listen and speak. He's now turning 4 years old, and measures at or above average in all areas of development including language skills in comparison with hearing peers. His success can be attributed to the skilled, compassionate staff who work with him daily.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The successes my son has has at a young age despite his deafness. He has been provided the gift of a solid educational foundation that will change his life and ability to achieve and integrate into a 'hearing' world forever.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

My profoundly deaf son (now aided with 2 cochlear implants) can listen, hear, speak and succeed like any 4 year old kid. This is truly amazing; not without intentional work and outreach provided by CID. I cannot speak enough praise for the way CID has changed the life of my son, and our family.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Skilled, compassionate, creative, energetic, personable, educated.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Continue to provide family outreach to families with children who are deaf and hard of hearing; provide additional educational scholarships for families to take advantage of the quality education offered

The Central Institute For The Deaf (CID) has been, and continues to be, an extemely positive experience for my entire family. My daughter, Kennedy, was born with congenital CMV that has slowly taken her hearing. Now completely deaf, but aided by two cochlear implants, I cannot tell you how incredible it is to talk to my 3 year old, and have her talk back to me and have us both understandeach other! CID has made it possible for my daughter to not only live in a hearing world, but to one day conquer it. - Kevin Berghoff

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

...everything my child speaks, does, and hears!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

...Continue the great service that it provides for the community.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

...that it is not a one time thing. It is a lifetime thing.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

...knowledgeable, friendly, and a pleasure with which to work.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

...help so many more children with hearing loss prepare for the hearing world.

Ways to make it better...

...I would never have had to use this wonderful organization. It is a rare gift that I never wanted, but am so grateful that I received.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

...money.

One thing I'd also say is that...

An organization like CID has made me understand how important a village is in raising a child. I cannot thank them enough for giving my daughter the communication skills that my entire family are all too quick to take as "normal".
