An absolutely outstanding venue that the performers obviously love coming to. A great mix of shows of all kinds. I actually travel a lot less to NYC and other places to see shows because of the great quality of shows at the Center for the arts. Nothing compares to it for over a hundred miles around!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I experienced the center mostly from attending performance shows, although I've also attended art shows. I wish that I lived close enough to take advantage of the classes and other events they put on.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Do nothing as well as it is already being done. And I'm the CEO of a fairly large company.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The physical quality and thoughtfull application of space at the center. The people behind the center obviously have some talent for organization and have just as obviously put a great deal of time and effort on getting things right. Very organized!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Without exception helpful and knowledgeable.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Become an oasis for the arts - oh wait - it already is. Maybe develop an artist in residence program?

Ways to make it better...

Hmmm. Maybe if there were a couple of other attractions of like quality and more and larger lodgings and restaurants available.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the same as everone else. Funding first and foremost. Maintaining the high quality of the people running it next. Maybe in reverse order.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I enjoy the arts and will travel to NYC, Boston, Ottawa, Philly or elsewhere for a days show. It is wonderful to have something of such quality so close.

My husband and I returned to Cortland after residing in an area with several live music opportunities year round. We were concerned that there would not be the same opportunities in this area. But we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the music programs presented by the Homer Center for Arts. We became members and regularly attend the performances. The performers we enjoyed the most were Tommy Sands and Arlo Guthrie. We never expected to seen such talented groups within a mile of our new home.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the friendliness of everyone involved. They provide a wonderful service with a smile.

Ways to make it better...

the show had lasted for 3 hours instead of 2.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

there are no summer performances to avoid conflicting with other groups who only do summer programs. It's a long time to go without the normal concert incomes.

The Center for the Arts has become the hub of intellectual and artistic exuberance in this community. They have something for everyone. It is such a beautiful and acoustically marvelous building. Would have been a terrible loss if this building was not saved from the wrecking ball.

The Center for the Arts of Homer has done a wonderful job of bringing the arts to this community, supporting the interest and talent of youth in the arts, preserving and making wonderful use of a unique and historic building, and serving the local community. It not only supports local interest in the arts, but has drawn attendance from the wider Central NY area. C4Arts of Homer has brought unique performers such as Eileen Ivers and Arlo Guthrie to this area at a surprisingly low cost. It makes Homer and the Cortland area a more pleasant place to live.

My wife and I have attended concerts, a play, and a one-man show at the Center for the Arts, and we greatly enjoyed each event. The Center is a showcase not only the talent on stage, but also for the management and supporting players behind the scenes.

My experience with the Homer Center for the Arts has been fantastic. They bring in top notch performers of all types. Performers so good that when they bring them back again the next season I go. Plus their programs including local talent have been great fun and unusual (Poe at Halloween). Their offering of free movies has given me a night out when I needed it and if I lived closer to Homer, I'd love to join their book club. They are an incredibly vibrant organization in the community.

I must say that this has been a Godsend to our community. We now have a center to showcase local talent as well as national quality acts. The Celtic bands are so uplifting and enjoyable, I usually purchase all of the CD’s that they are selling. I’m also VERY happy with the SAT prep courses that they are offering to help kids prepare for them. They also host the youth group LEAD, which has been a major program in developing future leaders in our schools. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

I travel about 50 miles each way to attend concerts at Homer Center for the Arts. I feel like every mile is worth it's price in gold for the enjoyment that my family receives when we attend concerts there. The theater is so accessible, the talent is world class, and the experience is quite intimate. The performers make us feel like part of their families! The Center welcomes families, so that we can make world class music a real part of our children's lives. I take my children there for lessons that can't be found elsewhere, and I love the community feeling in the art exhibits. We have enjoyed Grada, Glhengarry Bhoys, Eileen Ivers, and many other excellent events. The Center is a gem in Central New York!

This is an amazing organization, bringing top-notch talent to a culture-starved region and presenting it in an exquisite and congenial space. My husband and I have REALLY enjoyed the several concerts we attended here in the past year (and we drive almost 2 hours to get there).

I have gone to many events at the Center for the Arts of Homer in the past few years. Each time is a great experience. I even get my whole family to come out especially around Christmas when they have the Radio Plays. It's a fun environment to see a show like this and is perfect for the a holiday outing with family.
