The Center for the Arts of Homer definitely raises the bar for central New York. Being able to see Arlo Guthrie twice in Homer, NY is fantastic, but the quaint and cozy venue makes it even better. The Center offers a myriad of entertainment, Friday night movies, art shows and yoga classes. We're so lucky to have this in our community.

The Homer Center 4 the Atrs is a jewel of upstate New York. I drive 90 mile one way to attend performances-- and did so last night in a snow storm. The excellent caliber of the performances make it worth the trip, but the real pleasure for me is the amazing venue, the accomodating, friendly people that work there and the atmosphere of the pre-show gathering opportunity. There is a beautiful art gallery to enjoy. They raise money for local students to receive SAT test classes. They do everything possible to help to make arts accessible to their community.

Before sitting down to write, I pulled out all the old program books. Among those artists that standout are Richie Havens, Don Vappie, U. Utah Phillips, Cheryl Wheeler, Ola Onabule, Guy Clark, Arlo Guthrie, Karla Bonoff, The Four Bitchin' Babes, Frank Vignola and Bucky Pizzarelli and Elieen Ivers. The music program alone has enriched the lives of people throughout Central NY and beyond, justifying all the hard work and support. But, the Center is so much more. The programs for children, SAT prep, movies, the radio plays. I can't imagine live in Homer today without the Center.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the reactions of people who come to a concert for the first time and are amazed that we are here "in the middle of nowhere." A few weeks later, you will see them again which is even better.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated. Some work only when there is a special need, others are there for everything. Everyone has a role.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

become the premier arts program in the region and a leader in the nation.

The Center for the arts has be such a wonderful addition to the Village of Homer. It has a wide range of shows and attractions that it appeals to all age groups and tastes. Local musicians have also recognized such as; The Cafferty band, Dave Feinstein, Ten Man Push and others. Gallery showings of local and well known artists have also attracted many to the Center. There is always something happening at the Center for the Arts.

My wife and I originally just wanted to see Tom Paxton. We enjoyed the entire experience so much that we went to more events. Even though we live too far to make use of many of the regular programs we agree with the overall thrust of the way the center is run. We felt strongly enough that this year we joined. We also especially enjoy celtic music and dance and the center does a wonderful job of bringing this type of entertainment to the area.

People keep asking us "Why did we move to Homer"...because it has such a great Center for the Arts in a New Englandy like town. Attending a concert at the Center is like going to a big coffee house...intimate, good seating, great acoustics and wonderful volunteers. I am so grateful to all the people who had "the dream" and went for it.There's no place like Homer.

The setting is intimate and keeps improving all the time. It has added immensely to the arts in this community and has done a great deal to increase tourism in the community. It has also been an impetus for people to move to the community from other areas, especially people considering retirement. It has given a boost to the economy of the area as well.

Intimate, nice place to see a performance. I appreciate the wide range of performers. Any seat in the place is good. The social hour prior to the show is nice. Earlier in the sound was not as good as it should be, given the great acoustics of the venue. But it's been good to fantastic recently.

We love it!! My family uses the Center for the Arts on a weekly basis by attending dance lessons. We also enjoy the concerts, theatrical performances, art shows, and charity events. We are very happy to have these cultural experiences available to us without having to drive somewhere; we have something wonderful in our our hometown!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

everything! We have not been disappointed with anything we have attended. The cultural opportunities have encouraged our young daughter to explore and learn more about the arts, her heritage and the world.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

fantastic! While having to put someone's name on a wait list for a soldout performance. Overheard:"we should have just ordered the tickets online. They are really nice here. We will be back." They truly welcome everyone who enters the center.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

seating were reserved.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding! Hopefully all those use the center in someway can afford to give even $5 or $10. If everyone works together we can keep our center.

One thing I'd also say is that...

We love this center and want to see it succeed. We wish we had more time to give to the center.
